Senior care in Montana by the numbers
21.2% of Montana residents are 65 or older, above the national share of 18.0%. That is the 8th-highest share of the 50 states. The median aide wage of $17.61 an hour is above the national median of $17.21, and half of Montana's aides earn between $14.95 and $20.73.
Those wages are a benchmark for what a caregiver's time costs. Agency rates to families are higher, because they include the agency's overhead. When you hire directly you agree the rate with the caregiver, and CaregiverConnect takes no commission.

Aide wages describe employed aides (agency and facility staff included), not the rates private caregivers set on CaregiverConnect.

Hiring a caregiver directly in Montana
A caregiver you hire yourself is usually your household employee. The federal minimum wage and overtime rules for home care workers apply, and Montana may set a higher minimum wage. The U.S. Department of Labor lists each state's minimum wage and explains the rules for direct care workers.
For free local help, such as meals, respite, transportation and Medicaid-funded home care, contact your Area Agency on Aging through the Eldercare Locator (1-800-677-1116).
CaregiverConnect does not run background checks. Check identity, references and certifications yourself before anyone starts. The Safety Center and our guide to hiring a private caregiver walk you through it.
