Types of caregiver jobs in Lincoln
Lincoln households with an older couple often ask for help for one spouse while the other stays the main carer: a few hours of respite, bathing help, meals, light housekeeping, and rides to Roseville for appointments or to the Lincoln Senior Center for lunch. Companion and driving shifts suit newcomers to the work; mobility help, incontinence care and post-surgery overnights tend to go to CNAs or caregivers with strong references.

Caregiver pay in Lincoln: how much caregivers make
Public figures first, then what they mean for private work. Statistics describe employed aides across the Sacramento–Roseville–Folsom, CA metro (Placer County); private rates on CaregiverConnect are agreed between each caregiver and family and are not tracked by any agency.
| Measure | Hourly | Source and coverage |
|---|---|---|
| Home health and personal care aides, Sacramento–Roseville–Folsom, CA metro (Placer County) | $16.50 median ($17.20 mean) | BLS OEWS, May 2025; 60,350 jobs; concentration 2.02× national |
| IHSS provider wage, Placer County | $19.38 | CDSS; effective September 1, 2026 |
| California minimum wage | $16.90 | effective January 1, 2026 |
Who is the employer. A family that hires you directly is your employer under California's Domestic Worker Bill of Rights. The state minimum wage ($16.90 an hour from 1 January 2026; some cities set more, for example $17.75 in the City of San Diego) is the legal floor, and a personal attendant earns overtime at 1.5× after 9 hours in a day or 45 in a week. The main exceptions are IHSS recipients and an employer's own parent, spouse or child. Source: California DIR, Domestic Worker Bill of Rights FAQ.
The City of Lincoln has not passed a minimum wage of its own; the only Lincoln in the Labor Center's ordinance list is Lincoln, Nebraska. A Lincoln, California employer therefore owes at least the state's $16.90. Metro-wide, BLS reported a $16.50 median and $17.20 mean for home health and personal care aides in May 2025, while Placer County IHSS pays $19.38 from September 1, 2026. With an ACS median household income of $111,990 and 83.9% of homes owner-occupied, many Lincoln families can pay privately, and caregivers with dementia or transfer experience can reasonably ask for a rate above the IHSS figure. Personal attendants are due overtime past nine hours in a day or 45 hours in a week.
