Types of in-home care families in Calexico arrange
All non-medical. For nursing tasks (injections, wound care, catheters) you need a licensed home health agency, not a private caregiver.
Senior care at home
Help with the day: meals, reminders, light housekeeping, errands and company, so a parent can stay in their own home.
Personal care
Bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting and safe transfers. You list the tasks; caregivers who offer them apply.
Companion care
Conversation, walks, appointments and errands for someone who mostly needs company and a watchful eye.
Dementia & Alzheimer's care
Routine-based, patient support. Ask for experience with memory loss in your posting; caregivers list it on their profile.
Respite care
A few shifts a week or an occasional weekend so a family caregiver can rest, work or travel.
Overnight & live-in
Overnight supervision or a live-in arrangement with room and board. Caregivers mark these availabilities on their profile.
Post-surgery & recovery
Non-medical help after a hospital stay: mobility, meals, medication reminders and getting to follow-up appointments.
Part-time & flexible
Most families start with a few hours on set days. Post the days and time blocks you need and filter caregivers by availability.

Arranging care in Calexico, CA
Town-specific facts for Calexico families, with sources below. County programmes and costs are on the Imperial County families page.
Older, Spanish-speaking households
Calexico (an estimated 39,881 residents on 1 January 2026) has one of the valley's oldest populations: 16.5% of residents are 65 or over and 42.5% of households include someone 65 or older. 92% of residents speak Spanish at home and 57.7% speak English less than "very well", so the first thing most families look for is a caregiver who speaks Spanish with their parent; you can filter caregivers by language, and most local profiles list it.
Health care without a hospital in town
Calexico has clinics but no hospital: Pioneers' Calexico Health Center at 450 E. Birch Street ((760) 517-7845), ECRMC's Calexico Outpatient Center at 495 Birch Street and Innercare Calexico ((760) 357-2020). If your parent receives Medi-Cal, IHSS may pay a caregiver you choose, often a relative, for assessed hours: apply through the Department of Social Services in El Centro, (760) 337-6800. The Calexico Recreation Department and Community Center at 707 Dool Avenue, (760) 768-2176, run senior classes, many in Spanish, and a weekday senior lunch through Catholic Charities ((760) 353-2748). The 24-hour Adult Abuse Hotline is (760) 337-7878.
Screening a caregiver yourself
Interview in person, call two references, check the CDSS Home Care Aide Registry if the caregiver says they are listed, run a background check through a licensed provider with written consent, and start with paid trial shifts. Our hiring guide covers taxes, overtime and the written agreement. CaregiverConnect does not run background checks itself.
