IHSS Victorville: office, phone, pay rate and how to apply
Victorville has its own San Bernardino County In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) office, at 17270 Bear Valley Road, Suite 108, and the IHSS Public Authority lists a district office at that address too. If you live in Victorville and need IHSS for yourself or a relative, or want to be paid as a provider, this is where most of the in-person steps happen. Below: the office details, how to start an application, the Wednesday enrollment meetings, the hourly wage, the VVTA buses and paratransit that reach Bear Valley Road, and local help for older adults. We checked each detail on county, Public Authority, VVTA and state pages on October 16, 2026. Countywide rules are in our San Bernardino County IHSS guide.

Victorville IHSS office: address, phone and hours
| Item | Victorville office |
|---|---|
| Address | 17270 Bear Valley Rd., Ste. 108, Victorville, CA 92395 |
| Phone | (760) 243-8400 |
| Public Authority fax | (760) 243-8492 |
| Hours | Weekdays from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m.; closed holidays |
| Senior Information and Assistance, Victorville | (760) 243-8459 |
Both agencies list Suite 108. San Bernardino County's aging department, DAAS-PG, counts it among its six IHSS offices, and the Public Authority (enrollment and registry for caregivers) names Victorville as a district office with its own fax line. On the county's form IHSS 402 the office is mapped on Bear Valley Road beside Apatite Avenue, east of Hesperia Road.
Is it your office? The county assigns each new IHSS case by ZIP code but does not post the ZIP-to-office list, so a Victorville household in 92392, 92394 or 92395 learns its assigned office from the social worker who calls. Either way, DAAS-PG accepts an SOC 840 change of address or an employment verification request at any of its offices or any Public Authority office, so Bear Valley Road works for those errands regardless of assignment.
Before making a trip, the Public Authority encourages calling first and booking an appointment for in-person business. Its countywide number is (866) 985-6322.
Applying for IHSS in Victorville
There are two ways to open an application from Victorville: telephone the IHSS Central Intake Unit at (877) 800-4544 (open on business days from 8 in the morning until 5), or go to the Bear Valley Road office and apply in person. Before you call, find the applicant's Social Security card and confirm the exact legal name and birth date; incomplete applications take longer, the county says.
To qualify, DAAS-PG says the applicant must be 65 or older, or blind or disabled; be at risk of leaving home because of a disability; live in California and be eligible for Medi-Cal; and live in a home of their choosing, and the county does not treat a hospital stay or a licensed care facility as that home. After the call or visit, a social worker reviews needs and Medi-Cal status, a health care provider signs the SOC 873 certification, the worker makes a home visit, and a Notice of Action follows. DAAS-PG warns the whole process may run 90 days. Our county IHSS guide covers what the notice contains and how to appeal.
Approved clients with nobody lined up to hire can phone the Public Authority on (866) 985-6322 during weekday office hours and request names from its registry of pre-screened providers. When the regular provider cannot come, the assigned social worker can arrange temporary help through the Back-Up Provider System.
Becoming an IHSS provider in Victorville: Wednesday meetings
San Bernardino County requires new providers, and returning providers who have gone more than a year without a client, to attend an in-person meeting with the provider union before enrolling. The county's schedule sheet, form IHSS 402 (08/25), sets Victorville's sessions on Wednesdays, except holidays, at the Bear Valley Road office:
| Language and start time | Which Wednesdays |
|---|---|
| English, 9:00 a.m. | Every Wednesday |
| English, 10:00 a.m. | All except the 1st and 3rd week of each month |
| Spanish, 10:00 a.m. | The 1st and 3rd week of each month only |
What the sheet asks of you:
- Find a client before you go. Without one, there is no need to attend yet. People looking for a client are directed to the Public Authority registry application at SBCareJobs.SBCounty.gov.
- Turn up early. No appointment is taken, seating is limited, the meeting can last up to an hour, and the county admits no late arrivals and no guests.
- Collect a packet for each client. You leave with an IHSS New Provider BOUNDS packet per client. Set up your BOUNDS account before anything else, then follow the steps on the coversheet at home.
- Return it to an office. The meeting will not take completed packets. Bring them back to an IHSS or Public Authority office, such as Suite 108.
The remaining enrollment work is countywide, including Live Scan fingerprints, the BOUNDS orientation videos, electronic signing of SOC 426 and SOC 846 and timesheet registration. It is set out in the San Bernardino County IHSS guide, with the background-check tiers in our IHSS provider walkthrough.
Registry providers have a monthly chore: confirm your availability with the Public Authority, through hss.sbcounty.gov/pa_update/ or on a form left at an IHSS office. Skipping it can cost you your registry place. If you are hurt on the job, report it at your local Public Authority office or by phone on (866) 985-6322, option 3.
What IHSS pays a Victorville provider
The hourly rate depends on where the client lives, not the provider. A Victorville client is in San Bernardino County, and the state's county-by-county IHSS rate sheet ("IP Effective 10-1-2026", checked by us on October 16, 2026) gives that county's individual provider rate as $19.00, in effect since January 1, 2026. Against the statewide 2026 minimum of $16.90 an hour, that is $2.10 more (our illustrative subtraction).
Caring for a client who lives in another county means that county's rate instead; compare them in our table of IHSS pay by county. The county guide explains time-and-a-half after 40 hours, the weekly hour cap for providers with more than one client, paid sick leave and health coverage.
Bus and paratransit to the Victorville IHSS office
Victor Valley Transit Authority (VVTA) runs the local buses. Its published stop data (the GTFS feed linked from VVTA's developer page, valid September 6 to November 28, 2026) shows these stops on Bear Valley Road by the office:
- Route 50, VVTC to Hesperia Post Office: westbound at Bear Valley Road and Apatite Avenue, eastbound at Bear Valley Road and Industrial Boulevard, and both directions at Hesperia Road. The feed has 14 weekday trips each way, from about 6:30 a.m. to about 9:35 p.m., roughly every 70 minutes, with 11 trips on Saturdays and 9 on Sundays.
- Route 53, Victor Valley College to Victor Valley Mall: stops on Industrial Boulevard at Bear Valley Road.
Fares. A local VVTA trip costs $1.50, and $0.75 for veterans, seniors, people with disabilities and Medicare card holders, whose day pass is $2. Children ride free.
ADA Direct Access. VVTA's paratransit service needs ADA certification first: start the application on 1-877-ADA-RIDE. Certified riders book on (760) 244-4000, from one to 14 days ahead, with reservations taken 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. every day. Fares are $2.50 for Zone 1, $4.50 for Zone 2 and $6.00 for Zone 3. A registered personal care attendant rides free, which helps when an IHSS provider accompanies the client. ID cards are issued at VVTA's office, 17150 Smoke Tree Street, Hesperia, weekdays 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. VVTA's general line is (760) 948-3030.

Paying privately for care beyond IHSS hours
Hours beyond the Notice of Action are the family's to arrange. Typical examples in a Victorville home are a night sitter, weekend help, or a day off for the spouse or adult child already working as the IHSS provider. A family can put those hours up as a job on CaregiverConnect without a fee, compare applications from caregivers in Victorville and hire the person they prefer, becoming that caregiver's household employer at a mutually agreed wage that respects minimum wage law. No commission comes out of caregiver pay. We do not vet or background-check anyone, although a caregiver can choose to show a check on their profile. Premium plans cost extra and are optional.
Providers with room in the week can scan caregiver jobs in Victorville and register a caregiver profile at no charge. Relatives weighing paid options other than IHSS can read how family caregivers get paid in California.
