Finding in-home caregiver jobs in Palmdale
Palmdale became a city in August 1962 around two square miles near today's civic center and has grown into the second-largest city in the Antelope Valley, at 166,118 residents on January 1, 2026. The ZIP codes tell you where a posting is: 93551 covers the west side (Anaverde, Rancho Vista, Desert View Highlands, Portal Ridge and toward Leona Valley), 93552 takes in Pearland and parts of Palmdale East and Sun Village, and 93550 holds the downtown civic center plus Harold, Vincent-Grade and Barrel Springs. Lake Los Angeles (93591), Littlerock and Sun Village are unincorporated county communities next door, and their postings reach you the same way if they fall inside your radius. Google offers both "caregiver jobs palmdale ca" and "caregiver jobs in lancaster ca" as suggestions, a sign that people here look at the whole valley, and so should your radius.
Spanish is the language to list if you have it. In the ACS 2020–2024 survey 48.7% of Palmdale residents over five speak Spanish at home and 63.5% of residents are Hispanic or Latino, the highest Spanish share of the three Antelope Valley and Santa Clarita cities on this site. A bilingual profile that says which tasks you can do in each language is more useful to a family than a line saying "bilingual".

Caregiver pay in Palmdale: how much caregivers make
Public figures first, then what they mean for private work. Statistics describe employed aides across the Los Angeles–Long Beach–Anaheim, CA MSA (Los Angeles and Orange counties); private rates on CaregiverConnect are agreed between each caregiver and family and are not tracked by any agency.
| Measure | Hourly | Source and coverage |
|---|---|---|
| Home health and personal care aides, Los Angeles–Long Beach–Anaheim, CA MSA (Los Angeles and Orange counties) | $16.50 median ($17.25 mean) | BLS OEWS, May 2025; 385,530 jobs; concentration 2.22× national |
| IHSS provider wage, Los Angeles County | $19.64 | CDSS; effective January 1, 2026 |
| California minimum wage | $16.90 | effective January 1, 2026 |
Who is the employer. A family that hires you directly is your employer under California's Domestic Worker Bill of Rights. The state minimum wage ($16.90 an hour from 1 January 2026; some cities set more, for example $17.75 in the City of San Diego) is the legal floor, and a personal attendant earns overtime at 1.5× after 9 hours in a day or 45 in a week. The main exceptions are IHSS recipients and an employer's own parent, spouse or child. Source: California DIR, Domestic Worker Bill of Rights FAQ.
Within Palmdale city limits the state's $16.90 is the minimum, since the Berkeley Labor Center's national tracker shows no Palmdale wage ordinance. Step over into Sun Village, Littlerock, Lake Los Angeles or Leona Valley and an agency or other business employer owes the unincorporated-county rate of $18.47, in force since July 1, 2026. IHSS providers earn $19.64 wherever they work in the county. Palmdale's largest employers are aerospace firms (Northrop Grumman and Lockheed Martin top the city's 2023 financial report), and its median household income is $81,770 (ACS 2020–2024), close to Lancaster's. Private rates are negotiated family by family against those numbers; dementia care, nights and driving justify asking above the IHSS figure.
How to enroll as a provider in Los Angeles County, with the office phone lines and orientation steps, is in the IHSS Los Angeles County guide. IHSS wages for every county we cover, with effective dates, are in the IHSS pay by county guide.
How the public numbers relate to private rates, and what affects them, is covered in the caregiver pay guide.
