Finding in-home caregiver jobs in Cerritos
Begin with the care offices. CDPH's facility listing of October 16, 2026 counts 16 home health agencies and 13 hospices with Cerritos addresses, many of them in the office buildings along Studebaker Road and Center Court Drive: Evergreen Home Health and Evergreen Hospice Care share 17215 Studebaker Road, Healthview runs both a home health agency and a hospice on Center Court Drive South, and Providence at Home with Compassus has its Los Angeles County hospice at 17315 Studebaker. The same file shows College Hospital, a 187-bed acute psychiatric hospital on College Place, and a dialysis center on Pioneer Boulevard, but no skilled nursing facility inside the city. On the non-medical side, CDSS's May 2025 file lists 15 home care organizations (10 licensed, 5 with applications pending), five of them at 18000 Studebaker Road, Suite 700, including Visiting Angels of Cerritos and Amada Senior Care Cerritos.
Private families hire caregivers here too, and Cerritos has a large older population. In ACS 2020–2024, 26.5% of Cerritos residents are 65 or older and half of all households include someone in that age group. Many families speak an Asian or Pacific Islander language at home, so a profile that names your languages, states if you drive, and lists hospice or dementia experience will be read closely. Postings from 90703 families appear at the top of the page as they go up.

Types of caregiver jobs in Cerritos
Common Cerritos requests: daytime companionship and personal care for a parent living with an adult child's family; overnight or weekend cover alongside a hospice team that visits a few times a week; rides to medical appointments, where the city's Dial-A-Ride lets a personal care attendant travel with the client; and help with the routines of the senior center, such as the weekday lunch or a fitness class. Without experience, start with companion and errand work, or take a role at one of the home care offices, which must first register you with CDSS.

Caregiver pay in Cerritos: how much caregivers make
Public figures first, then what they mean for private work. Statistics describe employed aides across the Los Angeles–Long Beach–Anaheim MSA (Los Angeles and Orange counties); private rates on CaregiverConnect are agreed between each caregiver and family and are not tracked by any agency.
| Measure | Hourly | Source and coverage |
|---|---|---|
| Home health and personal care aides, Los Angeles–Long Beach–Anaheim MSA (Los Angeles and Orange counties) | $16.50 median ($17.25 mean) | BLS OEWS, May 2025; 385,530 jobs; concentration 2.22× national |
| IHSS provider wage, Los Angeles County | $19.64 | CDSS; effective January 1, 2026 |
| California minimum wage | $16.90 | effective January 1, 2026 |
| Nursing assistants, Los Angeles–Long Beach–Anaheim MSA (Los Angeles and Orange counties) | $22.78 median | BLS OEWS, May 2025 (certified roles, for comparison) |
Who is the employer. A family that hires you directly is your employer under California's Domestic Worker Bill of Rights. The state minimum wage ($16.90 an hour from 1 January 2026; some cities set more, for example $17.75 in the City of San Diego) is the legal floor, and a personal attendant earns overtime at 1.5× after 9 hours in a day or 45 in a week. The main exceptions are IHSS recipients and an employer's own parent, spouse or child. Source: California DIR, Domestic Worker Bill of Rights FAQ.
About 5.1% of Cerritos's labor force was unemployed, on average, between August 2025 and August 2026, according to EDD estimates. That is below both Los Angeles County's 5.4% and the statewide 5.3% for that period; Cerritos had an average labor force of about 22,733, and the monthly rate ranged from 4.6% to 5.9%. For a caregiver the useful numbers are pay rates: a Cerritos IHSS client brings the Los Angeles County provider wage of $19.64 an hour, and a client who lives across the county line in Orange County brings that county's $18.90, because the client's county sets the rate. Enrollment is covered in the IHSS guide for Los Angeles County.
Cerritos does not appear in the UC Berkeley Labor Center's inventory of city and county minimum wage ordinances, so direct household employment starts at the California minimum, $16.90. The county's $18.47 rate is for unincorporated areas and does not apply in this incorporated city. The ACS median household income is $135,439 and only 6.3% of residents 65 and over are below the poverty line. Personal attendants employed by a household earn time and a half once a shift passes nine hours or the week passes 45.
How to enroll as a provider in Los Angeles County, with the office phone lines and orientation steps, is in the IHSS Los Angeles County guide. IHSS wages for every county we cover, with effective dates, are in the IHSS pay by county guide.
How the public numbers relate to private rates, and what affects them, is covered in the caregiver pay guide.
Caregiver requirements in California, applied to Cerritos
Cerritos has no city caregiver license. Families can hire you directly for non-medical care with no credential at all. The 15 home care organizations on the CDSS file can only send aides who are on the Home Care Aide Registry, so register before you apply to Visiting Angels, Amada or the others. Home health agencies and hospices hold CDPH licenses; ask each one which aide certificate it requires for hands-on visits. Becoming an IHSS provider means county DPSS enrollment, orientation and a Live Scan; Cerritos College's police department rolls Live Scan prints on weekdays for a $25 fee plus state and federal charges. If you suspect a client is being abused or exploited, you are legally required to report it. More on the Los Angeles County page and in the requirements guide.
