Finding in-home caregiver jobs in Pomona
Pomona sits at the eastern edge of Los Angeles County: the county line with San Bernardino County forms most of its southern and eastern edge, and Montclair, Chino and Chino Hills are next door. From a Pomona base you can reach jobs in neighboring Los Angeles County towns to the north and west and, across the line, in Ontario or Montclair, and postings above are sorted by distance rather than by county. Google's suggestion for local searches is simply "caregiver jobs pomona ca", so the competition is less about wording and more about having a complete profile when a family posts.
Pomona is also well connected by rail and bus. Metrolink's Riverside Line stops at Pomona–Downtown and the San Bernardino Line at Pomona–North; Metro's A Line light rail reached Pomona when the Foothill Extension opened on September 19, 2025; and Foothill Transit's Silver Streak runs from the Pomona Transit Center toward downtown Los Angeles and Montclair. If you do not drive, name the station or line you live near and keep your radius tight; if you do, mark it, because rides to Pomona Valley Hospital and to clinics can be part of the job.

Caregiver pay in Pomona: how much caregivers make
Public figures first, then what they mean for private work. Statistics describe employed aides across the Los Angeles–Long Beach–Anaheim, CA MSA (Los Angeles and Orange counties); private rates on CaregiverConnect are agreed between each caregiver and family and are not tracked by any agency.
| Measure | Hourly | Source and coverage |
|---|---|---|
| Home health and personal care aides, Los Angeles–Long Beach–Anaheim, CA MSA (Los Angeles and Orange counties) | $16.50 median ($17.25 mean) | BLS OEWS, May 2025; 385,530 jobs; concentration 2.22× national |
| IHSS provider wage, Los Angeles County | $19.64 | CDSS; effective January 1, 2026 |
| California minimum wage | $16.90 | effective January 1, 2026 |
Who is the employer. A family that hires you directly is your employer under California's Domestic Worker Bill of Rights. The state minimum wage ($16.90 an hour from 1 January 2026; some cities set more, for example $17.75 in the City of San Diego) is the legal floor, and a personal attendant earns overtime at 1.5× after 9 hours in a day or 45 in a week. The main exceptions are IHSS recipients and an employer's own parent, spouse or child. Source: California DIR, Domestic Worker Bill of Rights FAQ.
Berkeley's Labor Center lists no Pomona wage ordinance, which means employers in the city answer to California's $16.90. The county line matters more for IHSS: Los Angeles County pays providers $19.64, while San Bernardino County's rate is $19.00, both from January 1, 2026 on the CDSS county table. The metro wage data match on both sides: the employed-aide median is $16.50 in the Los Angeles–Long Beach–Anaheim area and in the Riverside–San Bernardino–Ontario area. Pomona's median household income is $79,479 (ACS 2020–2024), lowest of the four north and east county cities on this site, so private families here often compare a caregiver's rate with the IHSS wage; experience with dementia, rehabilitation exercises or Spanish-language care supports a higher one.
How to enroll as a provider in Los Angeles County, with the office phone lines and orientation steps, is in the IHSS Los Angeles County guide. IHSS wages for every county we cover, with effective dates, are in the IHSS pay by county guide.
How the public numbers relate to private rates, and what affects them, is covered in the caregiver pay guide.
