Finding in-home caregiver jobs in Redondo Beach
The Department of Finance estimate for Redondo Beach on January 1, 2026 is 68,460 people. The median age is 41.1 in ACS 2020–2024, and 7,793 of the city's 28,307 households (27.5%) include someone 65 or older. Households are small, 2.42 people on average, and 1,716 households are women 65 or older living alone. That pattern produces a different kind of private caregiver job from the multigenerational homes inland: often a single older adult or a couple, with adult children who live elsewhere or work long hours and want a reliable person to check in, cook, drive and notice changes. Postings from the 90277 and 90278 ZIP codes are listed above as families publish them.
Many Redondo Beach clients have help organized around them already. Beach Cities Health District runs a care management program with social workers who visit older residents at home, write care plans and connect them with in-home care; families who come through that route tend to want someone dependable for set days, who keeps notes and communicates well. Nearly three in ten workers in the city work from home (29.3%), and family members are often home during your hours. Put your driving record, your reliability and any experience with memory loss or post-surgery recovery near the top of your profile, and say which parts of the city you can reach.

Types of caregiver jobs in Redondo Beach
Typical requests: companion visits and errands for someone living alone, meal preparation and light housekeeping, rides to appointments and the senior centers, help with showering and dressing, support after a hospital stay, and evening or overnight hours for a person with dementia. Caregiver pay in Redondo Beach: how much caregivers make
Public figures first, then what they mean for private work. Statistics describe employed aides across the Los Angeles–Long Beach–Anaheim, CA metro (Los Angeles and Orange counties); private rates on CaregiverConnect are agreed between each caregiver and family and are not tracked by any agency.
| Measure | Hourly | Source and coverage |
|---|---|---|
| Home health and personal care aides, Los Angeles–Long Beach–Anaheim, CA metro (Los Angeles and Orange counties) | $16.50 median ($17.25 mean) | BLS OEWS, May 2025; 385,530 jobs; concentration 2.22× national |
| IHSS provider wage, Los Angeles County | $19.64 | CDSS; effective January 1, 2026 |
| California minimum wage | $16.90 | effective January 1, 2026 |
Who is the employer. A family that hires you directly is your employer under California's Domestic Worker Bill of Rights. The state minimum wage ($16.90 an hour from 1 January 2026; some cities set more, for example $17.75 in the City of San Diego) is the legal floor, and a personal attendant earns overtime at 1.5× after 9 hours in a day or 45 in a week. The main exceptions are IHSS recipients and an employer's own parent, spouse or child. Source: California DIR, Domestic Worker Bill of Rights FAQ.
Redondo Beach is missing from UC Berkeley's Labor Center list of local wage laws, leaving California's $16.90 as the minimum. The $16.50 aide median from May 2025 covers Los Angeles and Orange counties as a whole and says little about this city, where median household income is $150,245 and 82.0% of residents carry private health insurance. Families here are more likely to pay privately for a full schedule rather than mix in IHSS, and experienced caregivers can set rates well above the floor. IHSS still pays $19.64 an hour for eligible Redondo Beach clients, and Beach Cities Health District notes that some income-eligible residents qualify for subsidized caregiving.
How to enroll as a provider in Los Angeles County, with the office phone lines and orientation steps, is in the IHSS Los Angeles County guide. IHSS wages for every county we cover, with effective dates, are in the IHSS pay by county guide.
How the public numbers relate to private rates, and what affects them, is covered in the caregiver pay guide.
Caregiver requirements in California, applied to Redondo Beach
A Redondo Beach family can hire you for companionship, meals, bathing help or driving without any state license. Agency work is the exception, because licensed home care organizations place only aides who already hold a Home Care Aide Registry listing; listing yourself there is optional for independents and gives families a name to search. Skilled tasks and work in nursing facilities require a nurse assistant certificate from CDPH. For IHSS work, Los Angeles County handles provider enrollment together with PASC, the public authority, on 877-565-4477. As a paid caregiver you are legally bound to report signs that an elder or dependent adult is being mistreated; call county APS, (877) 477-3646. Full rules: California caregiver requirements. Enrollment steps: our IHSS page for the county.
