IHSS Pomona: the Mission Boulevard office, how to apply, pay rate and getting there
Pomona has its own Los Angeles County IHSS office, on East Mission Boulevard, which makes it one of seven places in the county where In-Home Supportive Services cases are run. Below is what a Pomona household needs to apply for IHSS, and what a Pomona caregiver needs to start working as a paid provider: the office details, the phone and fax lines, the wage, the buses and door-to-door rides that serve the area, and the city's own senior services. County-wide rules are in our IHSS Los Angeles County guide; this page sticks to Pomona. All details were read on official pages on October 16, 2026.

IHSS office in Pomona: 360 E. Mission Blvd.
On its office list, DPSS calls this site IHSS Line Operations II – Pomona – 19. It handles IHSS only; the county's other Pomona office, described further down, handles Medi-Cal and cash aid.
- Street address: 360 E. Mission Blvd., Pomona, CA 91766.
- Open to the public: Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, per the county Services Locator.
- Phone: DPSS gives 1-888-822-9622, the county-wide IHSS Helpline. The locator adds a Participant Help Line for this office, (866) 465-0905.
- Fax for documents the county asks you for: (909) 752-9402, the Pomona office's secure eFax on the DPSS IHSS page.
Which office has your case. The county does not publish service boundaries for its IHSS offices, so a Pomona address does not guarantee a Pomona caseworker. The county Services Locator, searched for DPSS offices around ZIP 91766, ranks the Mission Boulevard office first at 1.3 miles; the next IHSS office it shows is Monterey Park, 17.8 miles away. Letters from the county name the office that holds your case, and the Helpline can tell you if you have not received one.
How to apply for IHSS in Pomona
An IHSS application does not have to be made in person. DPSS takes form SOC 295 over the phone on (888) 944-4477 (or (213) 744-4477), by mail to DPSS In-Home Supportive Services at PO Box 769, Rosemead, CA 91770, or by secure fax on (562) 684-4264.
DPSS lists the conditions that apply in every city: you must live in California and in a home of your choosing rather than a hospital or licensed facility, you must apply for Medi-Cal if you do not already have it, and your doctor or another licensed health care professional must complete the Health Care Certification (SOC 873). After that, a county social worker interviews you and sets the tasks and the monthly hours that IHSS will cover.
The Medi-Cal step, locally. If you still need Medi-Cal, DPSS's general district office in Pomona, Pomona – 36 at 2040 W. Holt Ave., Pomona, CA 91768, lists Medi-Cal, CalFresh, CalWORKs and General Relief among its programs. DPSS says you can apply in person at any district office, online through BenefitsCal, or by calling its Customer Service Center on (866) 613-3777 to have an application mailed.
Starting as an IHSS provider from Pomona
The enrollment sequence is the same county-wide and is set out in full in the county guide: call the Helpline, finish orientation in person or online, bring the enrollment forms, a photo ID and your Social Security card to an IHSS office, then clear the Department of Justice check through Live Scan. Three points matter for a Pomona provider.
- Book orientation through the right office. PASC's advice is to call the IHSS office handling the recipient's case to schedule it. If the person you will care for has a case at Mission Boulevard, that is where you will be directed.
- Use an approved fingerprint site. DPSS warns that the orientation packet's Live Scan form must go to a site the Attorney General has approved for Los Angeles County. When we checked on October 16, 2026, that list held two entries with a Pomona address, both private businesses on East Mission Boulevard; the Attorney General says fees vary by operator, valid photo ID is required, and you should call ahead.
- Budget for it. Under state law, PASC says, the provider pays for the fingerprints.
Payment cannot start until enrollment is complete and the recipient has named you as their provider.
Registering with PASC from Pomona
The Personal Assistance Services Council (PASC) is the Public Authority for IHSS across the county, and its Homecare Registry is how many recipients without a relative to hire find a provider. The registry is run from Pasadena, at 3452 E. Foothill Blvd., Suite 900, so most Pomona providers will apply remotely.
- PASC only registers people who already qualify to do IHSS work, meaning orientation attended and the background check cleared. Anyone who has never done IHSS work, or has been out for a year or more, should go through the Helpline first.
- Send the Registry Provider Application online, by email, by post to the Pasadena address (attention Registry Services) or by fax on (818) 206-8000. In-person applications are taken in Pasadena on weekdays between 9:00 am and 4:00 pm; PASC suggests allowing up to an hour.
- PASC runs two-hour recruitment meetings in different cities over the year; ask about upcoming ones on (877) 565-4477 (option 2, then 1).
- Applicants with Tier 2 convictions are not accepted.
What IHSS pays a Pomona provider
The Los Angeles County IHSS wage is $19.64 an hour from January 1, 2026, as stated by DPSS and by the CDSS wage-by-county workbook dated October 1, 2026. It is a county rate tied to where the recipient lives, not to the provider's home address. DPSS pays back-up providers more: $22.64 an hour on the Back-Up Attendant Program and $21.64 on the state's Back-Up Provider System. The IHSS pay by county guide lists every county side by side.

Covering the hours IHSS does not
Most IHSS authorizations leave gaps, and the gaps are where families in Pomona tend to look for private help: an evening shift, a Saturday, relief for a son or daughter who is the IHSS provider on weekdays. A family can post those hours on CaregiverConnect without paying, hear back from caregivers directly and hire the person they choose, as the household employer, at a rate they agree that meets the minimum wage. No commission is taken from caregivers, and we do not run background checks (caregivers may upload their own). Optional paid plans exist for extra features. See caregiver jobs in Pomona or caregivers in Pomona; listings change as families post.
