IHSS Lancaster: the Avenue K-6 office, phone lines, pay rate and how to apply

For Lancaster, the Los Angeles County In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) office is close to home: it sits on East Avenue K-6, and the county's own office finder puts the next IHSS office more than 35 miles away in Burbank. This page covers what Lancaster residents need on both sides of IHSS, whether you are applying for help at home or hoping to be paid as a provider: the office and its local phone line, where to sort out Medi-Cal, the wage, AVTA rides to Avenue K-6 and the county senior center on Jackman Street. County-wide detail is in our IHSS Los Angeles County guide, and every item below was confirmed against an official source on October 16, 2026.

Lancaster's IHSS office on Avenue K-6

DPSS lists the office as IHSS Line Operations V – Lancaster – 35, at 335-C East Avenue K-6, Lancaster, CA 93535. (The county Services Locator labels it "IHSS Ops I – Lancaster – 35"; the office number, 35, and the address are the same.)

  • Hours open to the public: 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday.
  • Phone lines: DPSS routes every IHSS office through the Helpline, 1-888-822-9622. The Services Locator also lists two Participant Help Line numbers for Lancaster: (866) 514-9911 and a local (661) 471-1770.
  • Secure fax for documents the county requests: (661) 424-7849.

How likely is it that your case sits here? DPSS does not publish which areas each IHSS office covers. Its locator does show distances: from ZIP 93534 the Lancaster IHSS office comes up first at 2.5 miles, and the next IHSS office in the results is Burbank, at 35.8 miles. Your county letters name the office that holds your case; if you are not sure, ask the Helpline.

How a Lancaster household applies for IHSS

Nobody has to drive to Avenue K-6 to apply. DPSS takes the IHSS application, SOC 295, on the phone at (888) 944-4477 (local (213) 744-4477), by mail to PO Box 769, Rosemead, CA 91770, and by secure fax to (562) 684-4264.

The person applying must be a California resident living in their own chosen home rather than a hospital or licensed facility, has to seek Medi-Cal if not already covered, and must return the SOC 873 Health Care Certification filled in by a licensed health care professional, per DPSS. A county social worker then interviews them and decides which services are needed and for how many hours.

Medi-Cal on the same street. DPSS's office list shows two general DPSS offices in Lancaster that offer Medi-Cal: Lancaster – 34 at 349-B E. Ave. K-6, Lancaster, CA 93535 (CalWORKs, CalFresh, Medi-Cal), and the Lancaster General Relief Sub Office – 67 at 337 E. Ave. K-10 (CalFresh, General Relief, Medi-Cal). DPSS says applications are also taken online through BenefitsCal and by phone at (866) 613-3777.

Enrolling as an IHSS provider in Lancaster

The county guide sets out each enrollment form; in outline, a new provider phones the Helpline, finishes orientation (in person or online), takes identification and the enrollment paperwork to an IHSS office, and passes a Department of Justice background check before any pay is issued. For Lancaster providers:

  • Orientation. The county Public Authority, PASC, tells providers to arrange orientation with the IHSS office handling the recipient's case. When the case is held on Avenue K-6, that is the office to call.
  • Live Scan. The fingerprint form from your orientation packet must be used at a location on the Attorney General's approved list for Los Angeles County, DPSS says. On October 16, 2026 that list carried nine entries with a Lancaster address, most of them private businesses. Hours and fees differ between operators; the Attorney General asks you to call first and to bring unexpired photo ID.
  • Cost. Providers pay for their own fingerprinting, according to PASC.

PASC Homecare Registry access from the Antelope Valley

County-wide, the Homecare Registry is kept by the Personal Assistance Services Council (PASC): it is the list recipients can use when they have no relative or friend to hire. PASC works from 3452 E. Foothill Blvd., Suite 900, Pasadena, CA 91107, which is why most Lancaster providers will want the remote routes:

  • file the Registry Provider Application online, or send it by email, by mail marked for Registry Services, or by fax to (818) 206-8000;
  • or apply in person in Pasadena, weekdays from 9 am to 4 pm, where PASC suggests setting aside up to an hour.

You must have finished county orientation and cleared the state background check before PASC will accept you, and Tier 2 convictions rule an applicant out. PASC's two-hour recruitment meetings move between cities during the year; for the schedule, call (877) 565-4477 and choose 2, then 1. On the recipient side, DPSS lists PASC as a source of providers alongside family members, friends and neighbors.

IHSS pay rate in Lancaster

Lancaster is in Los Angeles County, so IHSS providers working for Lancaster recipients earn the county wage: $19.64 an hour, effective January 1, 2026, as published by DPSS and confirmed by the Los Angeles line of the CDSS county wage workbook (October 1, 2026 edition). The rate is the same in Lancaster as in Long Beach or Pomona, because counties, not cities, set IHSS pay. DPSS pays back-up workers more: $21.64 on the state Back-Up Provider System and $22.64 on the Back-Up Attendant Program. See the IHSS pay by county guide for other counties.

IHSS pays for a set number of hours each month, and the rest of the week is up to the family. When a Lancaster household needs more, say evenings, a weekend shift or time off for the relative who is the IHSS provider, it can post that private job on CaregiverConnect for free, hear from caregivers who apply, and hire one directly as their employer at an agreed rate no lower than the minimum wage.
