Types of caregiver jobs in Calipatria

These are the care categories families choose from when they post on CaregiverConnect. You pick the ones you offer when you build your profile.

Senior caregiving

Day-to-day support for older adults who want to stay in their own home: companionship, meals, reminders and help getting around safely.

In-home care

Families on CaregiverConnect post the help they need at home, from a few hours a week to daily visits. Most postings are non-medical.

Personal care

Hands-on help with bathing, dressing, grooming and mobility. Families list exactly which tasks they need so you can decide what fits.

Companion care

Conversation, activities, errands and transportation for someone who mostly needs company and a second set of hands.

Dementia & Alzheimer's care

Routine-based support for people living with memory loss. Families often ask for experience; share yours in your profile.

Respite care

Short-term cover so a family caregiver can rest, travel or work. Often a few shifts a week or occasional weekends.

Live-in caregiving

Caregivers who list "live-in" availability are matched to families offering room and board as part of the arrangement.

Part-time & overnight

Set your availability by day and time block (mornings, afternoons, evenings, overnight) and families filter by it.

  1. Tell us about your experience

The free caregiver sign-up starts with your years of experience, the care types you provide (personal care, companionship, dementia care, overnight and more) and any certifications. No licence is required for non-medical care.

  2. Set your availability and rate

Choose full-time, part-time or live-in, tick the days and time blocks you can work, set your hourly rate and travel radius, and say whether you have a vehicle.

  3. Create your account

Add your name, email, ZIP code and a password. Your profile goes live right away and families in your radius can find it in search.

  4. Browse, apply or respond

See open postings and a matched list ranked by how well your profile fits what each family asked for. Apply to a posting, or respond when a family sends you a direct job request; the family reviews applicants and chooses who to hire. Applying to open postings and starting a new conversation are part of Caregiver Premium ($7.99/month, cancel anytime). Replying to a family who contacts you is always free.

  5. Agree on the details

Use messaging to discuss schedule, duties and pay. You and the family agree on the rate and how you are paid; CaregiverConnect does not take a cut of your earnings.

Caregiving in Calipatria, CA

Town-specific facts for Calipatria, with sources below; county-wide figures and resources are on the Imperial County page.

The town

Calipatria (6,515 residents in 2020; an estimated 6,002 on 1 January 2026) lies about 24 road miles north of El Centro at 180 feet below sea level, the lowest incorporated city in the Western Hemisphere; its 184-foot flagpole flies the flag at sea level. Calipatria State Prison at 7018 Blair Road, opened in 1992 with a design capacity of 2,308, dominates the population figures: the 2020 Census counted 44.6% of residents as institutionalised, so the city's percentage of residents aged 65 and over (10.2%) understates the free-living community. A better signal is households: 43.2% of Calipatria households include someone 65 or older, the highest share of any town in the county. 82.5% of residents are Hispanic or Latino and 68.8% speak Spanish at home.

Services and getting there

The Calipatria Senior Center at 150 N. Park Avenue hosts a monthly senior lunch on the third Wednesday through the Area Agency on Aging and Catholic Charities ((760) 353-2748). The nearest hospital is Pioneers Memorial in Brawley, (760) 351-3333; the closest community clinic is Innercare's Niland site, (760) 359-0110. IVT routes 2N/2S, 22N/22S and 51N/51S connect Calipatria with Brawley, Niland and El Centro; IVT RIDE Now does not serve the town, so a caregiver with a car is valuable. City Hall is at 125 N. Park Avenue, (760) 348-4141.

Pay and IHSS

Countywide, employed home health and personal care aides earned a median $16.50 an hour in May 2025 (BLS); IHSS providers earn $18.83 in 2026 and enrol through the Public Authority in El Centro, (760) 337-7722. The Brawley America's Job Center, 860 Main Street, (442) 265-5376, is the nearest job centre.

Questions

Caregiver jobs in Calipatria: frequently asked questions

Are there caregiver jobs in Calipatria?

Postings within 50 miles appear at the top of this page; most come from Brawley and the central valley. Set a 25-mile travel radius and turn on alerts above.

Why does the page say the city’s senior share is misleading?

Because almost half of the people counted in Calipatria in 2020 were in the state prison. The share of households with an older adult, 43.2%, better reflects the families who hire caregivers.

Where is the nearest hospital?

Pioneers Memorial in Brawley. For primary care, Innercare’s Niland clinic is closest.
