Finding in-home caregiver jobs in Lompoc

Most paid care in Lompoc happens in ordinary houses. The state licensing file for May 2025 listed only four elderly care homes with Lompoc addresses, three of them with six beds or fewer, so when an older resident can no longer manage alone the usual answer is help at home. Of residents 65 and older, 37.0% report a disability, and 1,380 people in that age group live alone (ACS 2020–2024). Discharges from Lompoc Valley Medical Center on East Ocean Avenue and from the two nursing facilities in town create short-term work, while families with a parent who has dementia look for regular weekday and evening help. Local postings appear above as Lompoc families publish them; widen your radius if you also want work in Vandenberg Village and Mission Hills.

Civilian veterans make up 6.9% of Lompoc adults, against 3.7% in Santa Maria and 3.0% in Goleta, and the city's history is bound up with the base that began as Camp Cooke in 1941. Experience with a veteran client, or knowledge of VA paperwork, is worth putting in your profile. So is Spanish: 42.1% of residents five and older speak it at home. Add whether you drive, because the average Lompoc commuter travels 27.6 minutes and many clients need rides. The profile guide explains each section.

Types of caregiver jobs in Lompoc

Lompoc families typically ask for a few hours of help each day with bathing, dressing and meals, company for a parent home alone while relatives are at work, rides to medical appointments, and recovery care after a hospital or rehab stay. Night supervision for someone with memory loss and weekend relief for a spouse are common too. Without experience, begin with companion care and errands; a nursing assistant certificate from Allan Hancock College opens up hands-on personal care.

Pay

Caregiver pay in Lompoc: how much caregivers make

Public figures first, then what they mean for private work. Statistics describe employed aides across the Santa Maria–Santa Barbara, CA metro (Santa Barbara County); private rates on CaregiverConnect are agreed between each caregiver and family and are not tracked by any agency.

MeasureHourlySource and coverage

Nursing assistants, Santa Maria–Santa Barbara, CA metro (Santa Barbara County)$22.66 medianBLS OEWS, May 2025 (certified roles, for comparison)

Who is the employer. A family that hires you directly is your employer under California's Domestic Worker Bill of Rights. The state minimum wage ($16.90 an hour from 1 January 2026; some cities set more, for example $17.75 in the City of San Diego) is the legal floor, and a personal attendant earns overtime at 1.5× after 9 hours in a day or 45 in a week. The main exceptions are IHSS recipients and an employer's own parent, spouse or child. Source: California DIR, Domestic Worker Bill of Rights FAQ.

Lompoc does not appear in the UC Berkeley Labor Center list of local minimum-wage ordinances, so California's $16.90 is the minimum. IHSS pays Santa Barbara County providers $20.07, the metro median for agency-employed aides is $16.50, and the metro median for nursing assistants is $22.66. Rent is lower here than in Santa Maria or Goleta: median gross rent is $1,589 and median household income $72,004 (ACS 2020–2024). If a client wants you to drive to Santa Barbara or Santa Maria for appointments, agree a mileage rate in advance. A household that employs you owes overtime beyond nine hours in any day and 45 in any week.

How to enroll as a provider in Santa Barbara County, with the office phone lines and orientation steps, is in the IHSS Santa Barbara County guide. IHSS wages for every county we cover, with effective dates, are in the IHSS pay by county guide.

How the public numbers relate to private rates, and what affects them, is covered in the caregiver pay guide.

Rules

Caregiver requirements in California, applied to Lompoc

A Lompoc family can hire you for non-medical home care without any state license. A Home Care Aide Registry listing matters only once you join a licensed home care organization; two such employers were based in Lompoc according to the May 2025 file. For IHSS, Santa Barbara County's process runs from an online enrollment through an appointment, a background check and payroll registration; the Public Authority that runs it works out of Santa Maria and answers on 866-313-1353. The Comprehensive Care Center run by Lompoc Valley Medical Center and Lompoc Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation hire CDPH-certified nursing assistants. The full rules sit in our California requirements guide, and county enrollment is covered in the IHSS guide for Santa Barbara County.
