Finding in-home caregiver jobs in Sanger

Sanger is small enough that most private care work comes from a mix of in-town households and families in east Fresno and Clovis. Inside the city, the people who need help tend to be parents living with or near grown children: 27.8% of Sanger households include someone 65 or older, and 38.0% of residents in that age group report a disability (ACS 2020–2024). No general hospital is licensed inside Sanger, according to the state facility list, so a typical request begins after a discharge in Fresno, Clovis or Reedley, when relatives want paid help at home through the first weeks. New postings show up above as Sanger-area families publish them, each marked with its distance from Sanger; a 20-mile radius reaches Fresno and Clovis.

Spanish matters more here than in almost any other part of the county. 48.4% of residents aged five and up speak it at home, and 18.2% speak Spanish and less than very good English, so a bilingual caregiver can serve parents an English-only applicant cannot. Lead your profile with the languages you speak, say whether you drive and how far, and name the care you have done before. The profile guide walks through each section.

Pay

Caregiver pay in Sanger: how much caregivers make

Public figures first, then what they mean for private work. Statistics describe employed aides across the Fresno, CA metro (Fresno County); private rates on CaregiverConnect are agreed between each caregiver and family and are not tracked by any agency.

MeasureHourlySource and coverage

Nursing assistants, Fresno, CA metro (Fresno County)$21.50 medianBLS OEWS, May 2025 (certified roles, for comparison)

Who is the employer. A family that hires you directly is your employer under California's Domestic Worker Bill of Rights. The state minimum wage ($16.90 an hour from 1 January 2026; some cities set more, for example $17.75 in the City of San Diego) is the legal floor, and a personal attendant earns overtime at 1.5× after 9 hours in a day or 45 in a week. The main exceptions are IHSS recipients and an employer's own parent, spouse or child. Source: California DIR, Domestic Worker Bill of Rights FAQ.

The UC Berkeley Labor Center inventory shows no Sanger wage ordinance, so California's $16.90 applies. The county IHSS rate of $18.75 is the realistic reference point for private work, $2.25 above what aides employed in the Fresno metro earn at the median. Sanger's costs help: median gross rent is $1,209 against $1,392 for Fresno County, and median household income is $77,500 (ACS 2020–2024). When a client wants you to drive to Fresno appointments, ask for mileage on top of the hourly rate. A family-employed attendant is paid overtime for any day longer than nine hours or any week longer than 45.

How to enroll as a provider in Fresno County, with the office phone lines and orientation steps, is in the IHSS Fresno County guide. IHSS wages for every county we cover, with effective dates, are in the IHSS pay by county guide.

How the public numbers relate to private rates, and what affects them, is covered in the caregiver pay guide.

Sanger in numbers

With 27,403 residents (Department of Finance E-1, January 2026) and a median age of 30.9, Sanger skews young: 10.6% of residents are 65 or older, below the county's 12.9% (ACS 2020–2024). 77.8% of residents are Hispanic or Latino, and 21.0% were born outside the United States. Facility care in Sanger is limited. The state's healthcare facility file lists one skilled nursing facility, Cornerstone Care Center on 9th Street (99 beds), and no general acute care hospital. Elim Place on 5th Street, licensed for 44 residents, was the only residential care home for the elderly on the May 2025 licensing file; Evergreen Gardens and Evergreen Meadows closed in July 2024. That leaves families relying on relatives and private help at home. See also Fresno, Clovis, Reedley and the Fresno County page.
