Finding in-home caregiver jobs in Windsor

Windsor's paid care jobs are mostly in residential care and in private homes. The CDSS licensing file of May 25, 2025 lists 14 licensed elder care homes in town with 156 beds. One is large: Brookdale Windsor on Adele Drive, licensed for 80 residents. The other 13 are small homes licensed for four to six people. The same file shows six adult residential facilities (34 beds), one of them licensed for residents with special health care needs. No licensed home care organization has a Windsor address, so any agency sending aides here is based elsewhere.

CDPH's October 16, 2026 facility listing has no Windsor hospital, nursing home, home health agency or hospice. It does show a 12-station dialysis clinic, Satellite Healthcare Windsor on Lakewood Drive, a surgery center, and Alliance Medical Center's community clinics on Old Redwood Highway.

If you speak Spanish, lead with it. In ACS 2020–2024, 25.6% of Windsor residents aged five and up speak Spanish at home, and 10.1% speak English less than very well; 32.9% of the town is Hispanic or Latino. Workers here mostly drive alone (77.5%); 0.4% take transit, 11.9% work from home and the average commute is 22.7 minutes. Tell families whether you will travel on to Healdsburg or Santa Rosa as well.

Types of caregiver jobs in Windsor

Windsor families tend to post for help with bathing, meals and medication reminders, rides to dialysis and doctor visits, and someone to watch over a parent with memory loss during the workday. Some want a companion for classes or the pool at the Windsor Senior Recreation Center. Without paid experience, offer companionship and errands first, or ask the small care homes whether they take on staff without experience.

Pay

Caregiver pay in Windsor: how much caregivers make

Public figures first, then what they mean for private work. Statistics describe employed aides across the Santa Rosa–Petaluma, CA metro; private rates on CaregiverConnect are agreed between each caregiver and family and are not tracked by any agency.

Who is the employer. A family that hires you directly is your employer under California's Domestic Worker Bill of Rights. The state minimum wage ($16.90 an hour from 1 January 2026; some cities set more, for example $17.75 in the City of San Diego) is the legal floor, and a personal attendant earns overtime at 1.5× after 9 hours in a day or 45 in a week. The main exceptions are IHSS recipients and an employer's own parent, spouse or child. Source: California DIR, Domestic Worker Bill of Rights FAQ.

About 4.1% of Windsor's labor force was unemployed, on average, between August 2025 and August 2026, according to EDD estimates. That is below both Sonoma County's 4.3% and California's 5.3%, with monthly figures between 3.4% and 4.5% and a labor force of about 13,500. What a caregiver earns here depends more on the employer than on that number. Since March 1, 2026, IHSS providers serving Sonoma County clients earn $20.25 an hour; enrollment is explained in our Sonoma County IHSS guide.

The BLS metro covers all of Sonoma County: a May 2025 count of 10,150 aides earning a $17.72 median, with a location quotient of 1.79. UC Berkeley's Labor Center inventory lists no ordinance for the Town of Windsor. Santa Rosa and Petaluma appear there with ordinances of their own, but Windsor does not, so the minimum for work in town is California's $16.90. Households that employ you directly as a personal attendant owe overtime beyond nine hours in a day or 45 in a week. ACS 2020–2024 puts Windsor's median household income at $133,979 and median rent at $2,433, so set a private rate that reflects local living costs.

How to enroll as a provider in Sonoma County, with the office phone lines and orientation steps, is in the IHSS Sonoma County guide. IHSS wages for every county we cover, with effective dates, are in the IHSS pay by county guide.

How the public numbers relate to private rates, and what affects them, is covered in the caregiver pay guide.

Caregiver requirements in California, applied to Windsor

No state license is required for non-medical work paid by a Windsor household. Agency employment is the exception: a licensed home care organization may not place you until you hold a CDSS Home Care Aide Registry listing, which costs $35 and lasts two years. Skilled nursing facilities and hospitals, none of which are inside Windsor, hire CDPH-certified nursing assistants. Sonoma County's IHSS Public Authority handles provider applications and its registry on (707) 565-5700, and the county In-Home Supportive Services office is on (707) 565-5900. WIC §15630 makes every caregiver a mandated reporter: report by phone to Sonoma County APS at (707) 565-5940, staffed 24 hours, and follow up with form SOC 341.
