Types of in-home care families in Yuma arrange
All non-medical. For nursing tasks (injections, wound care, catheters) you need a licensed home health agency, not a private caregiver.
Senior care at home
Help with the day: meals, reminders, light housekeeping, errands and company, so a parent can stay in their own home.
Personal care
Bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting and safe transfers. You list the tasks; caregivers who offer them apply.
Companion care
Conversation, walks, appointments and errands for someone who mostly needs company and a watchful eye.
Dementia & Alzheimer's care
Routine-based, patient support. Ask for experience with memory loss in your posting; caregivers list it on their profile.
Respite care
A few shifts a week or an occasional weekend so a family caregiver can rest, work or travel.
Overnight & live-in
Overnight supervision or a live-in arrangement with room and board. Caregivers mark these availabilities on their profile.
Post-surgery & recovery
Non-medical help after a hospital stay: mobility, meals, medication reminders and getting to follow-up appointments.
Part-time & flexible
Most families start with a few hours on set days. Post the days and time blocks you need and filter caregivers by availability.
How to find and hire a caregiver in Yuma
CaregiverConnect is a marketplace, not an agency: you hire the caregiver directly, which is why there is no agency mark-up on their hourly rate. That also means screening is your responsibility, and we tell you how.

Arranging care in Yuma, AZ
What Yuma families should know about rules, costs and public programmes, with sources below.
Arizona’s rules when you hire directly
Arizona does not license non-medical caregivers hired directly by a family; the state licenses home health agencies and facilities (A.R.S. §§ 36-151, 36-401). That means no registry to check and no mandated training for a private hire, so screening is yours to do: interview in person, call references, verify any CNA or DCW claims, and run a background check through a licensed provider with the caregiver's consent. Suspected abuse, neglect or exploitation of a vulnerable adult can be reported to Adult Protective Services at 1-877-767-2385, online 24/7.
ALTCS and paying a family member
If your relative needs nursing-facility-level care and qualifies financially, the Arizona Long Term Care System can pay for in-home attendant care, personal care and homemaker services. Under Self-Directed Attendant Care the member becomes the employer and can hire family members, friends or neighbours (not spouses), with a fiscal employer agent handling payroll; since 1 October 2025 a spouse may be paid through an agency for up to 40 hours in a seven-day period. The ALTCS Yuma office is at 1800 E. Palo Verde Street, (888) 621-6880. Many families use ALTCS for assessed hours and a private caregiver for the rest.
What care costs in Yuma
Public reference points only: employed home health and personal care aides in the Yuma metro earned a median $16.61 an hour in May 2025 (BLS), the Arizona minimum wage is $15.15 in 2026, and CareScout's 2025 survey puts the national median for agency non-medical home care at $35 an hour. A caregiver you hire directly will usually expect more than the aide median and less than an agency rate; caregivers on this site list an hourly rate on their profile and you state your budget in the posting. Formal supply is thin here (about 780 employed aides for a county with roughly 45,000 residents over 65), which is why many families hire privately.
