Day-to-day support for older adults who want to stay in their own home: companionship, meals, reminders and help getting around safely.

In-home care

Families on CaregiverConnect post the help they need at home, from a few hours a week to daily visits. Most postings are non-medical.

Respite care

Short-term cover so a family caregiver can rest, travel or work. Often a few shifts a week or occasional weekends.

Live-in caregiving

Caregivers who list "live-in" availability are matched to families offering room and board as part of the arrangement.

How to find caregiver work in Yuma on CaregiverConnect

CaregiverConnect is a marketplace, not an agency. Families post what they need, caregivers apply, and the two of you work out the arrangement directly.

  1. Tell us about your experience

The free caregiver sign-up starts with your years of experience, the care types you provide (personal care, companionship, dementia care, overnight and more) and any certifications. No licence is required for non-medical care.

  2. Set your availability and rate

Choose full-time, part-time or live-in, tick the days and time blocks you can work, set your hourly rate and travel radius, and say whether you have a vehicle.

  3. Create your account

Add your name, email, ZIP code and a password. Your profile goes live right away and families in your radius can find it in search.

  4. Browse, apply or respond

See open postings and a matched list ranked by how well your profile fits what each family asked for. Apply to a posting, or respond when a family sends you a direct job request; the family reviews applicants and chooses who to hire. Applying to open postings and starting a new conversation are part of Caregiver Premium ($7.99/month, cancel anytime). Replying to a family who contacts you is always free.

  5. Agree on the details

Use messaging to discuss schedule, duties and pay. You and the family agree on the rate and how you are paid; CaregiverConnect does not take a cut of your earnings.

Caregiving in Yuma, AZ: what to know before you apply

Verified Arizona-specific information for caregivers in Yuma, with sources below.

Older, bilingual and seasonal

Yuma County had 203,881 residents in the 2020 Census and the Arizona Office of Economic Opportunity estimated 222,125 on 1 July 2025, with the City of Yuma at 104,263. Roughly one in five county residents is 65 or older (17.6% in the city), about two-thirds are Hispanic or Latino, and 55.5% of county residents aged five and over speak a language other than English at home, so bilingual Spanish/English caregivers are in demand. The winter-visitor season, roughly December to May, adds a large seasonal population: a 2017–18 Arizona State University study for Visit Yuma estimated about 71,000 winter visitors, and the county says its population grows by about 90,000. Seasonal residents and their families are a distinct source of short-term caregiving work.

Thin formal supply, which is the opportunity

The Bureau of Labor Statistics counted only about 780 home health and personal care aides in the Yuma metro in May 2025, with a mean wage of $16.39 and a median of $16.61 an hour; the occupation's concentration here is less than half the national average (location quotient 0.41) despite the older population. Statewide, Arizona had 74,540 aides at a median $17.51. Arizona's minimum wage is $15.15 an hour from 1 January 2026. Private rates are agreed between you and the family; set yours on your profile.

What Arizona requires, and what it does not

Arizona does not license non-medical in-home caregivers hired directly by families. The Department of Health Services licenses skilled home health agencies and residential facilities such as assisted living (A.R.S. §§ 36-151, 36-401). The 62-hour caregiver training requirement (A.A.C. R4-33-703) applies to assisted-living facility caregiver programmes, not to private in-home work. Caregivers employed by agencies serving Arizona Long Term Care System (ALTCS) members must pass the AHCCCS standardised Direct Care Worker tests within 90 days of hire (CNAs, LPNs and RNs are exempt). Employees of licensed home health agencies and nursing and residential care institutions must hold or apply for a DPS Level 1 fingerprint clearance card within 20 working days of hire (A.R.S. § 36-411; $67, valid six years). Anyone responsible for a vulnerable adult's care is a mandated reporter of abuse under A.R.S. § 46-454; Adult Protective Services is 1-877-767-2385.

ALTCS: the Arizona route to paid family care

ALTCS pays for in-home attendant care, personal care and homemaker services for eligible Arizonans who need nursing-facility-level care. Under Self-Directed Attendant Care the member becomes the employer and can hire family members, friends or neighbours (not spouses), with a fiscal employer agent handling payroll; since 1 October 2025 a spouse may be paid as a caregiver through an agency for up to 40 hours in a seven-day period. The ALTCS Yuma office is at 1800 E. Palo Verde Street, (888) 621-6880. Many Yuma caregivers hold an ALTCS-funded case alongside private clients found on marketplaces like this one.

Training, job help and local services

Arizona Western College's Nursing Assistant certificate, approved by the Arizona State Board of Nursing, prepares students for the state CNA exam; in-state tuition is $500 plus a $400 lab fee that includes the state test. WIOA funding may cover costs after eligibility screening at ARIZONA@WORK Yuma County, 3826 W. 16th Street, (928) 329-0990. The Western Arizona Council of Governments Area Agency on Aging (Region IV), 1235 S. Redondo Center Drive, (928) 782-1886 or 1-800-782-1886, provides in-home attendant care, respite, a Family Caregiver Support Program and home-delivered meals. Onvida Health (formerly Yuma Regional Medical Center) is the area's hospital. Yuma County Area Transit (YCAT, (928) 783-2235) runs fixed routes and the YCAT OnCall demand-response service across Yuma, San Luis, Somerton, Wellton and the Fortuna Foothills. The Yuma County Library District keeps a caregiver resources page with local phone numbers.

Questions

Caregiver jobs in Yuma: frequently asked questions

Do I need a licence or certificate to be a caregiver in Yuma?

Not for non-medical care hired directly by a family. Arizona licenses agencies and facilities, not private caregivers. You need the 62-hour training only for assisted-living facility jobs, the DCW tests only for ALTCS agency work, and a fingerprint clearance card only for licensed-institution employment.

Are there caregiver jobs in Yuma right now?

Postings from families within 50 miles of Yuma appear at the top of this page as they are published. If none are listed, create a profile anyway and turn on alerts above; families can message you directly.

What do caregivers earn in Yuma?

Employed aides earned a median $16.61 an hour in May 2025 (BLS); the Arizona minimum wage is $15.15 in 2026. Private rates are set between you and the family and are usually higher for overnight, weekend, personal and dementia care.

Can I work seasonally with winter visitors?

Yes; it is distinctive to Yuma. Seasonal residents and their families need short-term help from roughly December to May. Say on your profile that you take short-term assignments.

Can I get paid to care for a family member in Arizona?

Through ALTCS, if the person qualifies: under Self-Directed Attendant Care the member can hire relatives, friends or neighbours, and since October 2025 a spouse can be paid through an agency for up to 40 hours a week. Contact the ALTCS Yuma office, (888) 621-6880.

I live in El Centro; is Yuma too far?

Yuma is about 70 road miles from El Centro along I-8, so most caregivers choose one or the other. Live-in or multi-day assignments are the exception.

¿Hay familias que buscan cuidadoras que hablen español en Yuma?

Sí. Alrededor de dos tercios de los residentes del condado son hispanos o latinos y más de la mitad hablan en casa un idioma distinto del inglés. Indique el español en su perfil.
