Any Newport Beach posting listed above was written by a family nearby; the list changes as new ones go up, and each shows how far away it is.
Only English is spoken at home by 81.0% of residents, so your profile will be read mostly for reliability, discretion and specific experience. On your profile, describe the clients you have cared for and for how long, any work with memory loss or Parkinson's, post-surgical routines after joint or heart procedures, and whether you can drive a client's car. Say how long you stayed in previous jobs. The profile guide and the interview guide help.

Caregiver pay in Newport Beach: how much caregivers make
Public figures first, then what they mean for private work. Statistics describe employed aides across the Los Angeles–Long Beach–Anaheim, CA metro (Los Angeles and Orange counties); private rates on CaregiverConnect are agreed between each caregiver and family and are not tracked by any agency.
| Measure | Hourly | Source and coverage |
|---|---|---|
| Home health and personal care aides, Los Angeles–Long Beach–Anaheim, CA metro (Los Angeles and Orange counties) | $16.50 median ($17.25 mean) | BLS OEWS, May 2025; 385,530 jobs; concentration 2.22× national |
| IHSS provider wage, Orange County | $18.90 | CDSS; effective January 1, 2026 |
| California minimum wage | $16.90 | effective January 1, 2026 |
Who is the employer. A family that hires you directly is your employer under California's Domestic Worker Bill of Rights. The state minimum wage ($16.90 an hour from 1 January 2026; some cities set more, for example $17.75 in the City of San Diego) is the legal floor, and a personal attendant earns overtime at 1.5× after 9 hours in a day or 45 in a week. The main exceptions are IHSS recipients and an employer's own parent, spouse or child. Source: California DIR, Domestic Worker Bill of Rights FAQ.
Newport Beach has adopted no city wage floor (the UC Berkeley Labor Center lists none), so $16.90, the state rate, is the minimum on a direct hire. IHSS providers caring for an Orange County recipient earn $18.90. The BLS metro median of $16.50 covers both Los Angeles and Orange counties and includes agency employees. Newport Beach's median household income was $156,867 in ACS 2020–2024, and long experience, references from past clients, and live-in or overnight availability are reasonable grounds to ask for a higher rate.
How to enroll as a provider in Orange County, with the office phone lines and orientation steps, is in the IHSS Orange County guide. IHSS wages for every county we cover, with effective dates, are in the IHSS pay by county guide.
How the public numbers relate to private rates, and what affects them, is covered in the caregiver pay guide.
Caregiver requirements in California, applied to Newport Beach
Private non-medical caregiving for a Newport Beach family does not require a state license. An agency job requires you to appear on the CDSS Home Care Aide Registry. When the client has IHSS hours, the Orange County Public Authority enrolls you after three steps: its orientation videos, Live Scan prints done in the county on its form, and a two-hour visit where you show identity documents in the original. Becoming a CNA takes a CDPH-approved course and the state competency exam; Golden West College's noncredit program meets those rules. Any suspicion of elder abuse or neglect must be reported, and the county APS line is (800) 451-5155. More detail sits in the IHSS guide for Orange County and the California caregiver rules.
