Finding in-home caregiver jobs in Willows

The city's history page traces the name to a watering place ringed by willow trees where cattle drivers between Sacramento and Redding stopped to rest. A post office opened in 1862, the town incorporated on January 16, 1886, and when Glenn County was created in 1891 Willows became its seat. Interstate 5, completed in 1979, made it a stopover on the Sacramento–Redding run. The Department of Finance counted 6,388 residents on January 1, 2026.

For care work, the key fact is that Willows is older than the county around it, and its seniors report more disability. ACS 2020–2024 puts the median age at 38.6, against 36.2 countywide, and 16.3% of residents are 65 or older. Of those older residents, 46.5% report a disability, far above the county's 35.5%. About 12% of the city's 2,214 households are a person 65 or older living alone. Spanish is spoken at home by 32.1% of residents aged five and up, a smaller share than in Orland, and 12.5% of that group have limited English. Mention both languages if you have them, and say whether you can take early-morning or evening visits.

Types of caregiver jobs in Willows

Willows has three kinds of openings. Willows Post Acute on North Crawford Street, licensed for 79 skilled nursing beds, is the county's only nursing home, and facility aide jobs there generally call for a nursing assistant certificate. IHSS clients in town hire providers for the hours the county authorizes. Private families may want someone for a parent who lives alone, for errands to the clinics on North Enright Avenue, North Butte Street and West Sycamore Street, or for the weeks after a hospital stay. With no experience, companionship, meals and rides are the place to begin.

Pay

Caregiver pay in Willows: how much caregivers make

Public figures first, then what they mean for private work. Statistics describe employed aides across the North Valley-Northern Mountains Region of California nonmetropolitan area (includes Glenn County); private rates on CaregiverConnect are agreed between each caregiver and family and are not tracked by any agency.

Who is the employer. A family that hires you directly is your employer under California's Domestic Worker Bill of Rights. The state minimum wage ($16.90 an hour from 1 January 2026; some cities set more, for example $17.75 in the City of San Diego) is the legal floor, and a personal attendant earns overtime at 1.5× after 9 hours in a day or 45 in a week. The main exceptions are IHSS recipients and an employer's own parent, spouse or child. Source: California DIR, Domestic Worker Bill of Rights FAQ.

About 7.5% of Willows's labor force was unemployed, on average, between August 2025 and August 2026, according to EDD estimates. That is a little above Glenn County's 7.1% and well above California's 5.3%. The census adds context: median household income is $64,068, and 18.8% of residents live below the poverty line. Steady hours count for a lot in that setting, and an IHSS provider job in Glenn County pays $17.90 an hour for every authorized hour, whether the client is a parent, a neighbor or a stranger. Willows has no local wage ordinance in UC Berkeley's inventory, so private families must pay at least the state's $16.90 and owe overtime past nine hours in a day. A nursing assistant certificate moves you toward the $22.66 nonmetro median for CNAs.

How to enroll as a provider in Glenn County, with the office phone lines and orientation steps, is in the IHSS Glenn County guide. IHSS wages for every county we cover, with effective dates, are in the IHSS pay by county guide.

How the public numbers relate to private rates, and what affects them, is covered in the caregiver pay guide.
