Finding in-home caregiver jobs in Glenn County
The Department of Finance's estimate for January 1, 2026, is 29,031 Glenn County residents. Only two places are incorporated: Orland, with 8,632 people, and Willows, with 6,388. The remaining 14,011, close to half the county, live outside any city. The City of Willows notes that the county was formed from northern Colusa County in 1891, with Willows as its seat. Orland's own site puts Willows 15 miles south of Orland and Chico 20 miles east of it on State Route 32.
Two habits help a caregiver here. Plan on driving: ACS 2020–2024 finds 76.0% of the county's workers commuting alone by car, 12.5% sharing a ride and only 0.1% on public transit, with a mean trip of 22.9 minutes. And say which languages you speak. Spanish is the home language of 36.8% of residents aged five and up, and 13.3% of that group speak English less than very well. Name the towns you will cover and your Spanish level near the top of your profile.

Types of caregiver jobs in Glenn County
The county's Adult Services page spells out what IHSS covers in a Glenn County home: housekeeping, cooking and cleaning up after meals, laundry, food shopping and errands, and personal care such as bed baths, dressing, feeding, oral hygiene, grooming and help getting in and out of bed. IHSS is not a round-the-clock program, the county adds. Private families want similar help, plus company for a parent living alone. If you are new, start with errands, meals and companionship and add hands-on care once you have training.
- Senior caregiving: day-to-day help so an older adult can stay at home.
- Personal care: bathing, dressing, grooming, transfers.
- Companion care: company, errands, appointments, light help.
- Dementia care: routine-based support for memory loss.
- Respite care: cover so a family caregiver can rest or work.
- Live-in: room and board as part of the arrangement.
- Overnight: supervision through the night.
- Part-time and full-time: set by day and time block on your profile.
Caregiver pay in Glenn County: how much caregivers make
Public figures first, then what they mean for private work. |---|---|---|
| Home health and personal care aides, North Valley-Northern Mountains Region of California nonmetropolitan area (Glenn and nine other counties) | $16.50 median ($17.00 mean) | BLS OEWS, May 2025; 5,000 jobs; concentration 1.73× national |
| IHSS provider wage, Glenn County | $17.90 | CDSS; effective January 1, 2026 |
| California minimum wage | $16.90 | effective January 1, 2026 |

Who is the employer. A family that hires you directly is your employer under California's Domestic Worker Bill of Rights. The state minimum wage ($16.90 an hour from 1 January 2026; some cities set more, for example $17.75 in the City of San Diego) is the legal floor, and a personal attendant earns overtime at 1.5× after 9 hours in a day or 45 in a week. The main exceptions are IHSS recipients and an employer's own parent, spouse or child. Source: California DIR, Domestic Worker Bill of Rights FAQ.
No federal wage table exists for Glenn County on its own. BLS folds it into a nonmetropolitan area with Tehama, Colusa, Plumas, Lassen, Siskiyou, Modoc, Trinity, Sierra and Nevada counties. In May 2025 that ten-county area counted 5,000 jobs in this aide occupation, paying $16.50 at the median and $17.00 on average; the CNA median was $22.66. The CDSS table sets the Glenn County IHSS provider wage at $17.90 from January 1, 2026, a dollar over California's $16.90 minimum. Neither city nor the county appears in UC Berkeley's ordinance list, which leaves $16.90 as the private-pay floor; a household that employs you itself owes time and a half for hour ten onward in a day, or past 45 in the week.
About 7.1% of Glenn County's labor force was unemployed, on average, between August 2025 and August 2026, according to EDD estimates, compared with 5.3% for California as a whole. Caregiver requirements in California, applied to Glenn County
Glenn County households may pay you for non-medical care with no state license involved; you would join the Home Care Aide Registry only on taking a job with a licensed agency. Under IHSS, the recipient hires, trains and supervises the provider; the Glenn County Public Authority does not employ anyone. Its recruiting page lists what a registry provider needs: a government-issued ID or driver's license, a completed Live Scan, and no conviction that could endanger a client's health, safety or finances. Visits to the Public Authority are by appointment only. Suspicions of elder or dependent-adult abuse are yours to report, by law: phone Glenn County APS on (530) 865-1178, then complete form SOC 341. The full state picture is in our California caregiver requirements guide.
