How to find an in-home caregiver in Yuba County
Think about where the caregiver will come from. Most of the county's population lives in a tight cluster around Marysville, Linda and Olivehurst, joined by bridges to Yuba City in Sutter County, so a request for an address in that cluster can draw applicants from both sides of the Feather River. Wheatland and Plumas Lake sit further south. Foothill homes in Browns Valley, Oregon House, Dobbins or Camptonville are a real drive from town, and you will fill a shift there more easily if you offer mileage, fewer and longer visits, or a set weekly schedule.
Say which language your relative is most comfortable in. In the ACS 2020–2024, one resident in four aged five and over spoke a language other than English at home, most often Spanish (17.7%). The profiles below sort nearest-first from the ZIP code you enter, and the list grows as caregivers join, so it is worth checking again after a few days.

Types of in-home care families in Yuba County arrange
All non-medical. For nursing tasks (injections, wound care, catheters) you need a licensed home health agency, not a private caregiver.
- Senior care at home: meals, reminders, housekeeping, errands, company.
- Personal care: bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, transfers.
- Companion care: conversation, walks, appointments, errands.
- Dementia care: routine-based support; ask for experience.
- Respite care: shifts so a family caregiver can rest or work.
- Overnight and live-in: night supervision or room-and-board arrangements.
- Post-surgery recovery: non-medical help after a hospital stay.
- Part-time and flexible: a few hours on set days is the usual start.
Evaluating caregivers in Yuba County
Ask what each candidate can show you. An IHSS provider in Yuba County has completed state enrollment, a DOJ fingerprint background check and the provider orientation videos before the county will pay them. Aides employed by licensed agencies must be on the state Home Care Aide Registry, which independents may join voluntarily. Certified nursing assistants hold a CDPH certificate you can look up. After that, call two former employers, let your parent sit in on the interview, and pay for a trial shift before you agree to a schedule. CaregiverConnect does not run background, license or reference checks; if you want a screening report, arrange it yourself with the applicant's written consent.
Questions families here ask at interview
- Where do you live, and how long is the drive to our house on a weekday morning?
- Have you cared for someone after a stay at Adventist Health and Rideout?
- Are you enrolled as an IHSS provider, and in Yuba County or Sutter County?
- Can you drive Dad to appointments in Marysville and wait with him?
- Our house is past Loma Rica. Are you comfortable on foothill roads in winter?
- Have you worked with a veteran or a military family before?
- If a smoke day or a power outage hits, how would you reach us and what would you do first?

| Reference point | Hourly | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Employed aides, Yuba City metro (Sutter and Yuba counties) | $16.50 median | BLS OEWS, May 2025 |
| IHSS provider wage, Yuba County | $18.78 | CDSS; effective January 1, 2026 |
| California minimum wage | $16.90 | effective January 1, 2026 |
| Agency non-medical home care, California median (CareScout 2025) | $40.00 | CareScout Cost of Care Survey 2025 |
Who is the employer. When you hire a caregiver directly, you are a household employer under California's Domestic Worker Bill of Rights. The state minimum wage ($16.90 an hour from 1 January 2026; some cities set more, for example $17.75 in the City of San Diego) is the legal floor, and a personal attendant earns overtime at 1.5× after 9 hours in a day or 45 in a week. The main exceptions are IHSS recipients and an employer's own parent, spouse or child. Source: California DIR, Domestic Worker Bill of Rights FAQ.
Set a private rate against four markers: California's $16.90 minimum (no city or county in Yuba County has its own), the $16.50 median for aides in the Yuba City metro, the $18.78 Yuba County IHSS rate, and CareScout's $40 statewide median for agency care. Caregivers who know the IHSS rate will compare your offer with it. Under the Domestic Worker Bill of Rights a personal attendant earns time-and-a-half after nine hours in a day or 45 in a week. If your relative has Medi-Cal, ask about IHSS before budgeting private hours; the county takes applications at 1-877-652-0739.
No agency tracks private rates. A caregiver you hire directly will usually expect more than the employed-aide median and less than an agency rate; every caregiver on this site lists an hourly rate on their profile, and the hiring guide covers taxes and overtime.

Does CaregiverConnect screen the caregivers?
No. The platform does not verify identity, run background checks or call references. Posting is free; messaging caregivers and confirming a hire require Family Premium at $24.99 a month.
Will a caregiver from Yuba City work in Marysville?
Often, yes; the two cities face each other across the Feather River. Post with the exact ZIP code of the home and mention parking and schedule so nearby applicants on both sides can judge the trip.
