Finding in-home caregiver jobs in Yuba County

Yuba County is small enough to cover from one base but spread out enough that distance still decides which clients you can take. The county describes Marysville, bordered by the Yuba and Feather rivers, as its center, with Linda, Olivehurst, Arboga, Plumas Lake and Wheatland to the south and a ring of foothill settlements to the east and north: Loma Rica, Browns Valley, Oregon House, Dobbins, Brownsville, Challenge and Camptonville. Only Marysville and Wheatland are incorporated cities, so most addresses you see in postings will be in unincorporated communities. When you build your profile, name the community you live in, the ones you can reach on a weekday, and whether a drive into the foothills is realistic for you.

Plan on driving. In the ACS 2020–2024, 76.7% of employed county residents drove to work alone, only 0.5% used public transportation, and the average one-way commute took 32.4 minutes. A caregiver without a car can still work the Marysville, Linda and Olivehurst area by bus. Language matters as well: 25.4% of residents five and older speak something other than English at home, 17.7% of them Spanish, and the county publishes benefit forms in Spanish and Hmong. If you speak either, say so in the first line of your profile.

Area by area

The communities of Yuba County

The county splits into three practical zones: the river-city core, the fast-growing south and the foothills. Marysville has its own page; elsewhere, search by ZIP code.

  • MarysvilleThe county seat, 12,679 residents, where county offices, IHSS enrollment and the 221-bed Rideout hospital are all within a short drive of each other.
  • Linda and ArbogaUnincorporated communities next to Marysville, with the North Beale Road Transit Center and on-demand MOD bus service in Linda.
  • Olivehurst and Plumas LakeCommunities in the south of the county; Olivehurst has a local bus route to Yuba College and a MOD zone, while Plumas Lake depends more on cars.
  • Wheatland and Beale AFBWheatland is the county's second incorporated city; from October 12, 2026 a Wheatland/Olivehurst MOD zone replaced the old Wheatland bus route.
  • Loma Rica, Browns Valley and DobbinsFoothill communities on the Foothill Route, which runs only three days a week; private clients here usually need a caregiver with a car.

Types of caregiver jobs

Types of caregiver jobs in Yuba County

  • Part-time and full-time: set by day and time block on your profile.
Pay

Caregiver pay in Yuba County: how much caregivers make

Public figures first, then what they mean for private work. Statistics describe employed aides across the Yuba City, CA metro (Sutter and Yuba counties); private rates on CaregiverConnect are agreed between each caregiver and family and are not tracked by any agency.

MeasureHourlySource and coverage
Home health and personal care aides, Yuba City, CA metro (Sutter and Yuba counties)$16.50 median ($16.89 mean)BLS OEWS, May 2025; 3,120 jobs; concentration 2.21× national
IHSS provider wage, Yuba County$18.78CDSS; effective January 1, 2026
California minimum wage$16.90effective January 1, 2026

Who is the employer. A family that hires you directly is your employer under California's Domestic Worker Bill of Rights. The state minimum wage ($16.90 an hour from 1 January 2026; some cities set more, for example $17.75 in the City of San Diego) is the legal floor, and a personal attendant earns overtime at 1.5× after 9 hours in a day or 45 in a week. The main exceptions are IHSS recipients and an employer's own parent, spouse or child. Source: California DIR, Domestic Worker Bill of Rights FAQ.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics groups Yuba and Sutter counties into one metro area, which employed 3,120 home health and personal care aides in May 2025 at a $16.50 median and a $16.89 mean. A location quotient of 2.21 means the occupation is more than twice as common there as across the country. The Yuba County IHSS rate is $18.78 from January 1, 2026, which is $0.88 more than the $17.90 Sutter County pays on the other side of the Feather River, so the county your client lives in matters. Neither Marysville, Wheatland nor the county appears in the UC Berkeley Labor Center inventory of local minimum wage ordinances (July 2026 update), so the $16.90 state minimum is the floor everywhere in Yuba County. Median gross rent in the county is $1,311 (ACS 2020–2024), and 45.9% of renting households spend 30% or more of income on housing, which is worth weighing when you set a private rate.

How to enroll as a provider in Yuba County, with the office phone lines and orientation steps, is in the IHSS Yuba County guide. IHSS wages for every county we cover, with effective dates, are in the IHSS pay by county guide.

How the public numbers relate to private rates, and what affects them, is covered in the caregiver pay guide.

The area

Yuba County in numbers

The Department of Finance counted 87,692 residents on January 1, 2026. The county is young by California standards: the ACS 2020–2024 profile puts the median age at 34.2 and the share aged 65 or older at 13.1%, about 11,060 people, with 1,032 aged 85 or more. The older group still needs plenty of help. Among residents 65 and over, 42.6% report a disability, 2,907 live alone, and 8,190 of the county's 28,635 households include someone 65 or older. Civilian veterans make up 8.5% of adults, a reflection of Beale Air Force Base, which the county hosts just outside Wheatland.

Hospital work centers on Marysville. HCAI lists Adventist Health and Rideout at 726 Fourth Street as a 221-bed general acute care hospital with a basic emergency department; its discharges are where much short-term home care begins. For bus routes, pay context and interview questions in the county seat, see the Marysville page; across the river, the Sutter County page covers Yuba City and its own IHSS office.

Start the state online enrollment, watch the required videos, then book one of the Tuesday appointments at 5730 Packard Avenue, Suite 100, Marysville. How are IHSS timesheets submitted here?

Electronically only. Yuba County requires providers to enroll in Electronic Visit Verification and submit hours through the Electronic Services Portal or the Telephone Timesheet System; paper timesheets are no longer accepted. The Public Authority helps with registration at 530-749-6471.
