Finding in-home caregiver jobs in Lakeport

For a city of under 5,000 people, Lakeport has an unusual number of places that hire aides. In CDPH's licensing file dated October 16, 2026, Lakeport addresses cover two skilled nursing facilities, Rocky Point Care Center on 16th Street with 90 licensed beds and Lakeport Post Acute on Craig Avenue with 81; Sutter Lakeside Hospital on Hill Road East, a 27-bed critical access hospital with a basic emergency room; Sutter Care at Home, a licensed home health agency, also on Hill Road East; Hospice Services of Lake County on Parallel Drive; and a 23-station dialysis center on Peckham Court. The May 2025 CDSS files add one elder care home, Edelweiss Guest Home on Pool Street (15 residents), one licensed home care organization, Home With Us, on 19th Street, and an adult day program on Eleventh Street licensed for 40.

That mix gives you two routes. Nursing-home jobs require a nursing assistant certificate, and the course is taught in town. Private and IHSS work happens in clients' homes, and Lakeport's population is old enough to keep that steady: in ACS 2020–2024, 25.8% of residents are 65 or over and nearly half of households (48.9%) include someone that age. Use 95453 as your profile ZIP and list any facility experience; families whose parent is leaving Rocky Point or Lakeport Post Acute will ask.

A newcomer can start with companionship, shopping and cooking, then take on transfers and personal care after training.

Pay

Caregiver pay in Lakeport: how much caregivers make

Public figures first, then what they mean for private work. Statistics describe employed aides across the North Coast Region of California nonmetropolitan area (Del Norte, Humboldt, Lake and Mendocino counties); private rates on CaregiverConnect are agreed between each caregiver and family and are not tracked by any agency.

Who is the employer. A family that hires you directly is your employer under California's Domestic Worker Bill of Rights. The state minimum wage ($16.90 an hour from 1 January 2026; some cities set more, for example $17.75 in the City of San Diego) is the legal floor, and a personal attendant earns overtime at 1.5× after 9 hours in a day or 45 in a week. The main exceptions are IHSS recipients and an employer's own parent, spouse or child. Source: California DIR, Domestic Worker Bill of Rights FAQ.

About 4.1% of Lakeport's labor force was unemployed, on average, between August 2025 and August 2026, according to EDD estimates. Lake County ran at 7.2% over those months, California at 5.3%. Lakeport's labor force is small, about 1,600 people on EDD's count, and EDD estimates for small places can move from month to month; here the monthly rate ran between 3.4% and 4.7%. For your own earnings, the IHSS rate is the figure to know: Lake County pays providers $17.55 an hour, and the Lake County IHSS guide covers enrollment.

BLS groups Lake with three other North Coast counties for wage data. Aides there had a $16.74 median in May 2025, while nursing assistants had $23.12, a gap of more than $6 an hour, which is the case for taking the local CNA course. Berkeley's Labor Center shows no Lakeport ordinance as of July 2026, so private clients pay at least the state's $16.90, and the Domestic Worker Bill of Rights treats a personal attendant's tenth daily hour, or any weekly hour past 45, as overtime.

How to enroll as a provider in Lake County, with the office phone lines and orientation steps, is in the IHSS Lake County guide. IHSS wages for every county we cover, with effective dates, are in the IHSS pay by county guide.

How the public numbers relate to private rates, and what affects them, is covered in the caregiver pay guide.
