Finding in-home caregiver jobs in Hidden Valley Lake

Hidden Valley Lake is a census-designated place with no city government. At its center is the Hidden Valley Lake Association, a gated homeowners association whose membership is automatic and mandatory for owners and which runs its own security service. Water, sewer and recycled water come from the Hidden Valley Lake Community Services District, which supplies more than 2,500 homes as well as a fire department, an elementary school, medical offices and local businesses, and fire and emergency calls go to the South Lake County Fire Protection District, based in Middletown. The association describes the community as lying between Middletown and Lower Lake; by road, the Lower Lake office where Lake County runs IHSS is about 11 miles from the center of the CDP.

The gates shape the job. Members register guests through the association's web system or an automated phone line using their PIN, and the guest registration line is (707) 987-4079; members in good standing can also be given bar codes for regular visitors. Ask each family to register you before your first shift, and to keep your name on file if the work is ongoing. Use 95467 as your profile ZIP. Hidden Valley Lake workers average a 41.9-minute trip to work and 15.6% work from home, so a working spouse or adult child may be gone for long days; mention it if you can cover early mornings.

Types of caregiver jobs in Hidden Valley Lake

This is an older community. The median age is 52.6, 31.2% of residents are 65 or older, and 56.1% of households have a member that age (ACS 2020–2024). About 40.2% of residents 65 and older report a disability, and in 13.4% of households a woman 65 or older lives alone. The work that fits is help that lets someone stay in a single-family house: bathing and dressing, meals, medication reminders, housekeeping, rides to appointments, and overnight or live-in arrangements for people with advancing dementia. State licensing records from May 2025 place no assisted living home or licensed home care company in the 95467 ZIP code, which leaves care in private houses. If you are new to paid care, companion and errand shifts are a reasonable first step.

Pay

Caregiver pay in Hidden Valley Lake: how much caregivers make

Public figures first, then what they mean for private work. Statistics describe employed aides across the North Coast Region of California nonmetropolitan area (Lake and three other counties); private rates on CaregiverConnect are agreed between each caregiver and family and are not tracked by any agency.

Who is the employer. A family that hires you directly is your employer under California's Domestic Worker Bill of Rights. The state minimum wage ($16.90 an hour from 1 January 2026; some cities set more, for example $17.75 in the City of San Diego) is the legal floor, and a personal attendant earns overtime at 1.5× after 9 hours in a day or 45 in a week. The main exceptions are IHSS recipients and an employer's own parent, spouse or child. Source: California DIR, Domestic Worker Bill of Rights FAQ.

For wage statistics, BLS treats Lake, Del Norte, Humboldt and Mendocino as one North Coast region. Its May 2025 survey found a $16.74 median for home health and personal care aides across that region, a $17.16 average, and a $23.12 median for nursing assistants. IHSS pays $17.55 in Lake County, 65 cents above the $16.90 state minimum, which applies in Hidden Valley Lake because the UC Berkeley Labor Center inventory lists no local ordinance. Households here have a $84,152 median income (ACS), and private clients who expect a caregiver to manage the gate, the drive and longer shifts should pay for that time.

EDD estimates that about 7.4% of Hidden Valley Lake's labor force was unemployed, on average, between August 2025 and August 2026, close to the 7.2% Lake County rate and above California's 5.3%. Because EDD builds its numbers for places this small from county data, the figure is approximate. With so many older residents, IHSS hours for a parent or neighbor on Medi-Cal are steady local work; the Lake County IHSS guide covers enrollment.

How to enroll as a provider in Lake County, with the office phone lines and orientation steps, is in the IHSS Lake County guide. IHSS wages for every county we cover, with effective dates, are in the IHSS pay by county guide.

How the public numbers relate to private rates, and what affects them, is covered in the caregiver pay guide.
