Finding in-home caregiver jobs in Pinole
Pinole has been a city since 1903, and its own history page describes Old Town growing up as the service center for the California Powder Works plant next door. Today the paid care work inside its one ZIP code, 94564, comes from three kinds of employer. The first is licensed elder care homes: the CDSS licensing file dated May 25, 2025 lists 11 licensed elder care homes (RCFEs in state terms) with 166 beds between them, plus two applications pending. Nine of the 11 hold six beds and sit in ordinary houses on streets such as Granada Court, Marlesta Road and Tara Hills Drive. The two larger ones are Westmont of Pinole on Estates Avenue (100 beds) and St. Clare's Home for Seniors on San Pablo Avenue (12).
The second is home care agencies. The same file shows three licensed home care organizations, all with offices on Appian Way: Emerald Caregiving, Love Apparent Senior Services and Visiting Angels Pinole. The third is private families hiring directly. Look through CDPH's October 16, 2026 facility list for 94564 and you find dialysis, surgery and clinic sites but no hospital, nursing home, home health agency or hospice, so a nursing-home CNA job means working outside the city. In your profile, give 94564 or your own starting ZIP, the radius you will really travel, and the hours you can cover, and say early whether you have bathed, transferred or sat overnight with a client before.

Caregiver pay in Pinole: how much caregivers make
Public figures first, then what they mean for private work. Statistics describe employed aides across the San Francisco–Oakland–Fremont, CA metro (San Francisco, Alameda, Contra Costa, San Mateo and Marin counties); private rates on CaregiverConnect are agreed between each caregiver and family and are not tracked by any agency.
| Measure | Hourly | Source and coverage |
|---|---|---|
| Home health and personal care aides, San Francisco–Oakland–Fremont, CA metro (San Francisco, Alameda, Contra Costa, San Mateo and Marin counties) | $17.28 median | BLS OEWS, May 2025; 119,120 jobs; concentration 1.81× national |
| IHSS provider wage, Contra Costa County | $20.03 | CDSS; effective January 1, 2026 |
| California minimum wage | $16.90 | effective January 1, 2026 |
Who is the employer. A family that hires you directly is your employer under California's Domestic Worker Bill of Rights. The state minimum wage ($16.90 an hour from 1 January 2026; some cities set more, for example $17.75 in the City of San Diego) is the legal floor, and a personal attendant earns overtime at 1.5× after 9 hours in a day or 45 in a week. The main exceptions are IHSS recipients and an employer's own parent, spouse or child. Source: California DIR, Domestic Worker Bill of Rights FAQ.
About 3.0% of Pinole's labor force was unemployed, on average, between August 2025 and August 2026, according to EDD estimates. Pinole therefore sits under Contra Costa County's 4.7% and California's 5.3%; the monthly figure moved between 2.6% and 3.4% across an average labor force of about 9,217. For pay, the UC Berkeley Labor Center's minimum wage inventory, last modified on September 30, 2026, has no entry for Pinole, so agencies, care homes and families in Pinole start from the state's $16.90. Two other West County cities on that list, Richmond ($19.18) and El Cerrito ($18.82), set floors of their own for work inside their limits. IHSS providers whose client lives in Contra Costa County earn $20.03 an hour under the county wage CDSS lists from January 1, 2026; the Contra Costa IHSS guide walks through enrollment. The BLS median of $17.28 blends five counties, so for private bathing and transfer work, quoting the IHSS figure as your starting point is reasonable.
How to enroll as a provider in Contra Costa County, with the office phone lines and orientation steps, is in the IHSS Contra Costa County guide. IHSS wages for every county we cover, with effective dates, are in the IHSS pay by county guide.
How the public numbers relate to private rates, and what affects them, is covered in the caregiver pay guide.
Caregiver requirements in California, applied to Pinole
No state license is needed when a Pinole household employs you itself for non-medical care. Work for one of the three Appian Way agencies adds one step: the agency enters you in California's aide registry, which charges $35, before your first client visit. CNA certification comes through CDPH, which also lets anyone verify an active certificate online. IHSS pay starts with enrollment at the Contra Costa IHSS Public Authority, (800) 333-1081; joining its registry adds an application, a face-to-face interview, reference checks, Live Scan prints and two orientations. The Public Authority's fingerprinting list has no Pinole location; its West County entries are in El Cerrito, Richmond and San Pablo. Reporting suspected abuse of a client is a legal duty for you (WIC §15630), and Contra Costa APS answers 24 hours a day on (925) 229-8434 from a cell phone. Fuller rules are in the California requirements guide.
