How to find a caregiver in Perris
Post your need with a Perris ZIP code (92570 or 92571), the days and hours, the tasks and the language your relative prefers; 60.5% of Perris residents speak Spanish at home (ACS 2020–2024), and profiles list the languages each caregiver works in. One or two CaregiverConnect caregivers already live in Perris, and others within a 15-mile radius live in Moreno Valley, Menifee, Sun City and Lake Elsinore, all reachable on Interstate 215 or State Route 74. The platform is early here, so the number of applicants will be modest at first; a clear posting that says whether the caregiver would be alone with your relative, whether driving is needed and whether other family members are home during the day gets better applications than a vague one. Older adults are a small share of the city (7.9%, about 6,400 people), so many postings here are for a parent or grandparent living in a multigenerational household rather than alone.

Types of in-home care families in Perris arrange
All non-medical. For nursing tasks (injections, wound care, catheters) you need a licensed home health agency, not a private caregiver.
- Senior care at home: meals, reminders, housekeeping, errands, company.
- Personal care: bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, transfers.
- Companion care: conversation, walks, appointments, errands.
- Dementia care: routine-based support; ask for experience.
- Respite care: shifts so a family caregiver can rest or work.
- Overnight and live-in: night supervision or room-and-board arrangements.
- Post-surgery recovery: non-medical help after a hospital stay.
- Part-time and flexible: a few hours on set days is the usual start.
Evaluating caregivers in Perris
Verify rather than trust. Riverside County IHSS providers have passed a Department of Justice fingerprint check for that programme, and many Perris caregivers are or have been the IHSS provider for a relative; ask for the enrolment letter. The Home Care Aide Registry is voluntary for independent caregivers and can be searched on the CDSS site. A CNA certificate is checkable with CDPH. After the paperwork, speak to two references, interview at home with the person who will receive the care, ask the caregiver to walk you through a typical shift in their own words, obtain a consumer-reporting background check (signed consent first), and begin with paid trial shifts. CaregiverConnect itself does not screen anyone; the Verified badge means a document was uploaded and looked at, not that we vouch for the person.
Questions families here ask at interview
- Which languages do you speak with the person you care for, and which do you write notes in?
- How far are you from Perris, and would you use the 215 or surface streets to get here?
- Have you been an IHSS provider in Riverside County, and for how long?
- Would you drive my mother to the Perris Community Health Center on San Jacinto Avenue or to RUHS in Moreno Valley?
- What would you do if my father fell and could not get up?
- Are you comfortable working in a busy family home with children around?
- What is your rate, and what is extra for evenings, weekends or short notice?
Typical schedules and what care costs in Perris
Perris postings tend to be weekday daytime cover while the family works, shorter blocks for bathing and meals, respite for the daughter or son who does most of the caring, and recovery help in the weeks after a hospital discharge from Moreno Valley or Sun City. Overnight requests are mostly for dementia; live-in postings are uncommon in a city of multigenerational homes.
| Reference point | Hourly | Source |

| Employed aides, Riverside–San Bernardino–Ontario metro (Riverside County) | $16.50 median | BLS OEWS, May 2025 |
| IHSS provider wage, Riverside County | $19.90 | CDSS; effective May 1, 2026 |
| California minimum wage | $16.90 | effective January 1, 2026 |
| Agency non-medical home care, California median (CareScout 2025) | $40.00 | CareScout Cost of Care Survey 2025 |
Who is the employer. When you hire a caregiver directly, you are a household employer under California's Domestic Worker Bill of Rights. The state minimum wage ($16.90 an hour from 1 January 2026; some cities set more, for example $17.75 in the City of San Diego) is the legal floor, and a personal attendant earns overtime at 1.5× after 9 hours in a day or 45 in a week. The main exceptions are IHSS recipients and an employer's own parent, spouse or child. Source: California DIR, Domestic Worker Bill of Rights FAQ.
For many Perris families the first question is not the private rate but IHSS: if your relative has Medi-Cal, Riverside County DPSS can assess them for hours paid at $19.90, and a family member can be the provider. For hours beyond that, or where IHSS does not apply, expect a private caregiver to ask for a rate above $19.90 and well below the $40 agency median; the $16.50 employed median is the floor. Daily overtime for a personal attendant begins after the ninth hour and weekly overtime after 45, and above the federal wage threshold you are the employer for tax purposes.
No agency tracks private rates. A caregiver you hire directly will usually expect more than the employed-aide median and less than an agency rate; every caregiver on this site lists an hourly rate on their profile, and the hiring guide covers taxes and overtime.
