Finding in-home caregiver jobs in Bloomington
No city hall exists here. Bloomington is a census-designated place, and San Bernardino County governs it directly. Park and recreation programs belong to the Bloomington Recreation and Park District, which the county's Public Works Special Districts department operates; its main site is Ayala Park, a seven-acre park at 17911 Marygold Avenue with a community center whose great room holds up to 238 people. That building is also where older residents eat together: the county's Senior Nutrition Meal Program, run with Family Service Association, serves adults 60 and over and their spouses there. If you care for someone who still gets out of the house, the meal schedule at Ayala Park is a fixed point to plan a shift around.
Paid care work inside 92316 is small-scale and mostly in private homes. The May 2025 CDSS licensing file shows two licensed elder care homes (RCFEs) and five homes licensed as adult residential facilities, which house adults under 65 with disabilities; none of the seven has more than six beds. On CDPH's October 2026 list, not one hospital, nursing home, hospice or home health agency carries a Bloomington address, and CDSS lists no home care organization here. That leaves two kinds of local work: hours for a family or an IHSS client, and shifts in one of the small homes. Anything larger means a drive out of the community, so state your travel radius plainly in your profile.

Types of caregiver jobs in Bloomington
Older people in Bloomington usually live with relatives. ACS 2020–2024 counts 1,843 households with someone 65 or older, close to three in ten households, yet only about 180 older residents who live alone. So the typical request comes from a working son or daughter who needs daytime cover at home: help getting washed and dressed, lunch, medicines on time, a walk, a ride to the clinic on Valley Boulevard. Language matters more here than almost anywhere. Spanish is the home language of 70.9% of people aged five or more, and roughly a quarter of residents report limited English; if you can carry a whole shift in Spanish, lead your profile with it. New to paid work? A few hours of companionship or errands for one family is a fair start, and the small adult residential homes listed below sometimes train new staff.

Caregiver pay in Bloomington: how much caregivers make
Public figures first, then what they mean for private work. Statistics describe employed aides across the Riverside–San Bernardino–Ontario, CA metro (Riverside and San Bernardino counties); private rates on CaregiverConnect are agreed between each caregiver and family and are not tracked by any agency.

Who is the employer. A family that hires you directly is your employer under California's Domestic Worker Bill of Rights. The state minimum wage ($16.90 an hour from 1 January 2026; some cities set more, for example $17.75 in the City of San Diego) is the legal floor, and a personal attendant earns overtime at 1.5× after 9 hours in a day or 45 in a week. The main exceptions are IHSS recipients and an employer's own parent, spouse or child. Source: California DIR, Domestic Worker Bill of Rights FAQ.
Riverside–San Bernardino–Ontario MSA (Riverside and San Bernardino counties) projection: 94,950 aide jobs in 2023 to 126,020 in 2033 (+32.7%), about 191,990 openings over the decade including replacements (California EDD, 2023–2033 projections published April 2026). Openings are not the same as net new jobs.
About 4.8% of Bloomington's labor force was unemployed, on average, between August 2025 and August 2026, according to EDD estimates, lower than the 5.3% recorded for both the county and the state. Month to month it ranged from 4.1% and 5.4% across a labor force of about 12,100. EDD builds estimates for census-designated places like Bloomington from county totals, so read the number as approximate. What matters more for your pay: an IHSS provider caring for a Bloomington client earns the county rate of $19.00 an hour (see the San Bernardino County IHSS guide for how to enroll). Private and agency hours start at the state's $16.90: no wage ordinance for unincorporated San Bernardino County, or for any city in it, is tracked by the UC Berkeley Labor Center.
How to enroll as a provider in San Bernardino County, with the office phone lines and orientation steps, is in the IHSS San Bernardino County guide. IHSS wages for every county we cover, with effective dates, are in the IHSS pay by county guide.
How the public numbers relate to private rates, and what affects them, is covered in the caregiver pay guide.
Caregiver requirements in California, applied to Bloomington
Unincorporated status changes nothing about the state rules. Working directly for a Bloomington family on bathing, meals and errands needs no license. Agency aides are the exception: a licensed home care organization cannot send you to a client until you appear on the Home Care Aide Registry, and with no such agency based in 92316 you would be hired by one headquartered outside the community. IHSS hiring goes through San Bernardino County, whose IHSS Central Intake line is (877) 800-4544, and CDSS asks every new provider to complete orientation through the county Public Authority. A CNA certificate is only needed for nursing-facility or hospital jobs. Read the California requirements guide before your first interview.

Caregiver jobs in Bloomington: frequently asked questions
Is Bloomington a city?
No. Bloomington has never incorporated; the Census Bureau tabulates it as a census-designated place, and San Bernardino County is its local government. Parks and the Ayala Park Community Center are run by the county's Bloomington Recreation and Park District.
Is unemployment high in Bloomington?
Not by EDD's numbers. The 12-month average to August 2026 is about 4.8%, under the 5.3% shared by San Bernardino County and the state. It is modeled from county data, so treat it as approximate.
Will Bloomington families expect me to speak Spanish?
It is not required, but it helps a great deal. The ACS finds that 70.9% of Bloomington residents use Spanish at home. Older clients and the relatives who hire you will often prefer to discuss care plans in Spanish, so bilingual applicants have an edge.
Are there nursing homes or hospitals in Bloomington?
CDPH's October 2026 data shows none with a 92316 address, and no home health agency or hospice either. Facility jobs inside the community are in the small licensed homes; for nursing-facility or hospital work you would commute.
What is the minimum wage in Bloomington?
California's $16.90. The Labor Center inventory has no local ordinance for unincorporated San Bernardino County. IHSS pays more: $19.00 an hour for San Bernardino County clients since January 1, 2026.
How do Bloomington families reach me?
They post on the Bloomington family page, and requests near 92316 reach caregivers whose travel radius covers it. Mention the languages you speak and whether you drive.
