Finding in-home caregiver jobs in Crestline

Crestline has no mayor or city council. For statistics it counts as a census-designated place, and decisions such as funding for local buses and senior lunches go through the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors. For a caregiver, the more important point is what is missing: neither the CDPH facility list nor the CDSS licensing file shows a nursing home, hospice, home health agency, residential care home or licensed home care agency with a Crestline address. Paid care here happens in private homes, hired directly by a family or paid through IHSS.

The client base skews older. The ACS 2020–2024 counts 2,176 residents aged 65 and over, 265 of them 85 or older, and 40.6% of Crestline households include someone in that age group; 550 older residents live alone. Almost every home is a detached house (93.1%), and nearly every household has a car, so expect to drive to clients and to take them to appointments. For facility work, Mountains Community Hospital is a stop on the free Mountain Transit Route 2. Make your profile specific: the parts of Crestline you can reach, whether you have a reliable vehicle, and which days you are free.

Types of caregiver jobs in Crestline

Requests in Crestline usually involve one person or a couple staying at home: bathing and dressing, cooking, cleaning, pill reminders, and driving to the doctor, the pharmacy or the Tuesday and Thursday senior lunch at San Moritz Lodge. Adult children who live elsewhere often look for someone local to check in several times a week. With no licensed care homes in the community, there are few entry-level facility shifts, so a first job is more likely to be a few hours of companionship, errands or respite for a spouse.

Pay

Caregiver pay in Crestline: how much caregivers make

Public figures first, then what they mean for private work. Statistics describe employed aides across the Riverside–San Bernardino–Ontario, CA metro (Riverside and San Bernardino counties); private rates on CaregiverConnect are agreed between each caregiver and family and are not tracked by any agency.

Who is the employer. A family that hires you directly is your employer under California's Domestic Worker Bill of Rights. The state minimum wage ($16.90 an hour from 1 January 2026; some cities set more, for example $17.75 in the City of San Diego) is the legal floor, and a personal attendant earns overtime at 1.5× after 9 hours in a day or 45 in a week. The main exceptions are IHSS recipients and an employer's own parent, spouse or child. Source: California DIR, Domestic Worker Bill of Rights FAQ.

Riverside–San Bernardino–Ontario MSA (Riverside and San Bernardino counties) projection: 94,950 aide jobs in 2023 to 126,020 in 2033 (+32.7%), about 191,990 openings over the decade including replacements (California EDD, 2023–2033 projections published April 2026). Openings are not the same as net new jobs.

About 5.2% of Crestline's labor force was unemployed, on average, between August 2025 and August 2026, according to EDD estimates; that is a tenth of a point under the 5.3% posted countywide and statewide. The monthly estimates ranged from 4.5% to 5.8% for a labor force of roughly 4,900. Because EDD builds its census-designated-place numbers from county totals, the Crestline rate is an approximation. For your wages, IHSS is the clearest benchmark: Crestline clients come under San Bernardino County, whose providers earn $19.00 hourly (enrollment is covered in our county IHSS guide). The Labor Center inventory shows no minimum wage ordinance for unincorporated San Bernardino County, so private hours cannot legally pay under the state's $16.90. Because most visits mean driving, agree on mileage or travel time before you accept regular hours.

How to enroll as a provider in San Bernardino County, with the office phone lines and orientation steps, is in the IHSS San Bernardino County guide. IHSS wages for every county we cover, with effective dates, are in the IHSS pay by county guide.

How the public numbers relate to private rates, and what affects them, is covered in the caregiver pay guide.

Rules

Caregiver requirements in California, applied to Crestline

Unincorporated status does not change state rules. A Crestline household can pay you for non-medical care with no license involved. Agency work is another matter. Before a licensed home care organization dispatches you, CDSS expects to see you listed as a registered aide, and since no agency is licensed in 92325, that employer will be based elsewhere. Certified nursing assistant or home health aide certification from CDPH is needed only for hospital, nursing facility or home health agency work, such as the skilled nursing unit at Mountains Community Hospital. Clients apply for IHSS through the county's Central Intake Unit, (877) 800-4544; providers then enroll with San Bernardino County and complete the CDSS provider orientation. The California requirements guide has the details.
