Finding in-home caregiver jobs in Upland

This site handles private caregiver jobs that Upland families arrange themselves, without an agency. A family lists its ZIP code (91784 or 91786), the days and hours it needs and the tasks involved; caregivers whose travel radius covers that ZIP can read the posting and apply. The postings above update as families publish them; finish your profile and turn on alerts.

Think about who the clients are likely to be. In the ACS 2020–2024 estimates Upland has about 12,300 residents aged 65 and over and roughly 1,400 aged 85 and over, and 11.2% of residents report a disability. A third of residents over the age of four speak a language other than English at home: Spanish for 21.0%, a Chinese language for 2.7%, Tagalog for 2.0% and Arabic for 1.4%. Write those languages into your profile if you speak them, along with whether you drive, whether you are comfortable with dementia care, and whether you can start early.

Types of caregiver jobs in Upland

Typical Upland requests are morning help with bathing and dressing, a few afternoons of companionship and meal preparation, rides to medical appointments, and short-term help in the weeks after a patient leaves San Antonio Regional Hospital. Companion and errand work is a realistic way in for someone without formal experience; personal care and dementia supervision usually go to applicants who can show some history.

Pay

Caregiver pay in Upland: how much caregivers make

Public figures first, then what they mean for private work. Statistics describe employed aides across the Riverside–San Bernardino–Ontario, CA metro (San Bernardino County); private rates on CaregiverConnect are agreed between each caregiver and family and are not tracked by any agency.

MeasureHourlySource and coverage
Home health and personal care aides, Riverside–San Bernardino–Ontario, CA metro (San Bernardino County)$16.50 medianBLS OEWS, May 2025; 102,760 jobs; concentration 2.16× national
IHSS provider wage, San Bernardino County$19.00CDSS; effective January 1, 2026
California minimum wage$16.90effective January 1, 2026

Who is the employer. A family that hires you directly is your employer under California's Domestic Worker Bill of Rights. The state minimum wage ($16.90 an hour from 1 January 2026; some cities set more, for example $17.75 in the City of San Diego) is the legal floor, and a personal attendant earns overtime at 1.5× after 9 hours in a day or 45 in a week. The main exceptions are IHSS recipients and an employer's own parent, spouse or child. Source: California DIR, Domestic Worker Bill of Rights FAQ.

The BLS figures describe the whole Riverside–San Bernardino–Ontario metro; there is no separate wage series for Upland. Upland has not passed its own minimum wage (it is absent from the UC Berkeley Labor Center inventory of local ordinances), so the state $16.90 applies. For a private job the better benchmark is San Bernardino County IHSS, which pays providers $19.00 an hour from January 1, 2026: experienced caregivers here can usually point to that rate when they set their own. Upland households report a median income of $105,830 and a median owner-occupied home value of $739,400 (ACS 2020–2024), so asking more for overnight shifts, weekend work or memory care is reasonable.

How to enroll as a provider in San Bernardino County, with the office phone lines and orientation steps, is in the IHSS San Bernardino County guide. IHSS wages for every county we cover, with effective dates, are in the IHSS pay by county guide.

How the public numbers relate to private rates, and what affects them, is covered in the caregiver pay guide.

Rules

Caregiver requirements in California, applied to Upland

Upland is in the San Bernardino County IHSS program, and its Public Authority has a district office in Rancho Cucamonga at 9445 Fairway View Place, Suite 110, (909) 948-6200. To be referred to IHSS clients through the Public Authority registry, you ask a local IHSS office for a registry application (or email IHSSPARegistry@hss.sbcounty.gov), register in the state BOUNDS system, pass a Department of Justice background check, review the provider handbook and take CPR and first aid when classes are offered. The Public Authority says experience is not required. Once listed, you update your availability every month or drop off the list. None of this applies to a private, non-medical job a family arranges with you directly, and the state Home Care Aide Registry is optional for independent caregivers. CNA certification covers nursing tasks. Caregivers are mandated reporters of elder and dependent adult abuse. More in the requirements guide and the San Bernardino County IHSS guide.

Upland in numbers

The California Department of Finance counted 78,406 Upland residents on January 1, 2026. The ACS 2020–2024 profile puts the median age at 37.7, with 43.4% of residents Hispanic or Latino and 19.5% born outside the United States. Workers spend an average of 31.1 minutes getting to work, and median gross rent is $2,029 a month. For a caregiver, that combination means a steady pool of older homeowners whose adult children are at work during the day.

The main hospital is San Antonio Regional Hospital at 999 San Bernardino Road, a general acute care hospital licensed for 363 beds with a basic emergency department, according to HCAI. Discharges from there produce many of the short, daily home-care requests families post. The city’s Gibson Senior Center, open to adults 50 and older, runs a weekday lunch and a monthly morning when the county aging department hands out bus passes. Where do caregiver jobs in Upland come from on this site?

What does an IHSS provider earn in Upland?

Which languages help most with Upland clients?

Spanish is the most common language other than English in Upland homes, at 21.0% of residents over four, followed by Chinese languages, Tagalog and Arabic. Any of them is worth listing, as is basic English if a family wants help practicing it with a parent.
