Finding in-home caregiver jobs in Loma Linda
Health care dominates this city's map. CDPH's October 2026 facility file lists three general acute care hospitals with Loma Linda addresses, all under the Loma Linda University name: Loma Linda University Medical Center at 11234 Anderson Street (320 licensed beds), Loma Linda University Children's Hospital at the same address (364 beds) and the Medical Center's East Campus Hospital on Barton Road (134 beds). Add Totally Kids Rehabilitation Hospital on Mountain View Avenue, two skilled nursing facilities, a 20-station kidney center, a hospice office and an adult day health center, and the city offers caregivers an unusual range of employers inside one ZIP code.
The residential side is just as busy. The May 2025 CDSS licensing file shows 28 licensed elder care homes (RCFEs) in 92354. Twenty-three are six-bed homes on residential streets such as Poplar Street, Pecan Way and Shedden Drive; the five larger licenses are led by Brookdale Loma Linda on Van Leuven Street (220 residents), and two of them share one Cole Street address. CDPH adds 12 licensed intermediate care homes serving residents with developmental disabilities, all but one capped at six beds. For a private caregiver, that density cuts both ways: plenty of facility shifts to fill gaps between private clients, and families who already know what professional care looks like. Name the facilities you have worked in, and the shifts you can take, when you build your profile.

Languages vary: Spanish is the household language for 19.0% of people aged five and up, and Asian or Pacific Island languages for 16.6%. If you are new to care, a CNA course followed by part-time facility work is the usual route in this city.

Who is the employer. A family that hires you directly is your employer under California's Domestic Worker Bill of Rights. The state minimum wage ($16.90 an hour from 1 January 2026; some cities set more, for example $17.75 in the City of San Diego) is the legal floor, and a personal attendant earns overtime at 1.5× after 9 hours in a day or 45 in a week. The main exceptions are IHSS recipients and an employer's own parent, spouse or child. Source: California DIR, Domestic Worker Bill of Rights FAQ.
Riverside–San Bernardino–Ontario MSA (Riverside and San Bernardino counties) projection: 94,950 aide jobs in 2023 to 126,020 in 2033 (+32.7%), about 191,990 openings over the decade including replacements (California EDD, 2023–2033 projections published April 2026). Openings are not the same as net new jobs.
About 4.2% of Loma Linda's labor force was unemployed, on average, between August 2025 and August 2026, according to EDD estimates. Both San Bernardino County and the state averaged 5.3%, roughly a point higher, with monthly readings from 3.5% to 4.7% across some 12,850 workers. For care work, the figures that set your rate are these: IHSS pays $19.00 an hour for a Loma Linda client (enrollment steps are on the San Bernardino County IHSS guide), nursing assistants in the two-county metro had a $22.32 median in the BLS May 2025 survey, and private employers owe at least California's $16.90, because Loma Linda does not appear among the local wage laws tracked by the UC Berkeley Labor Center. With this many licensed employers in one ZIP code, compare a few offers before you accept one.

Caregiver requirements in California, applied to Loma Linda
The rules depend on who pays you. A family hiring you directly for personal care needs no license from you. Skilled nursing facilities and hospitals, the city's largest licensed sites by bed count, require a CDPH nursing assistant certificate; CRY-ROP's acute-care course, listed below, adds hospital skills for CNAs. No home care organization is licensed at a 92354 address in the CDSS file, so agency work means a company based in a nearby city, and that agency must see your Home Care Aide Registry entry before placing you. For IHSS, enrollment is handled by San Bernardino County's Public Authority (county intake line (877) 800-4544) and complete the CDSS orientation. See the California caregiver requirements guide for details.
