Finding in-home caregiver jobs in Thousand Palms

There is no city government in Thousand Palms. It is a census-designated place run directly by Riverside County, and the Board of Supervisors appoints the members of the Thousand Palms Community Council, an advisory body that meets at the community center on Robert Road. The Desert Recreation District runs that building. Its senior program meets there on Fridays from 10 a.m. to noon, and the district has scheduled a free Senior Resource Fair at the same building for Saturday, November 14, 2026, starting at 9 a.m., pitched at seniors and family caregivers alike.

Licensed employers inside 92276 are few and small. CDSS's May 2025 licensing files show one active home care organization, Empowerment Home Care LLC on Reserve Drive, licensed in February 2025, and two adult residential facilities for people aged 18 to 64 who live with a disability (a six-bed home and a four-bed enhanced behavioral supports home). CDPH's October 16, 2026 list adds a six-bed intermediate care home run by Angel View, Inc., an organization serving children and adults with disabilities. There is no elder care home (RCFE), nursing facility, hospital, hospice or home health agency with a Thousand Palms address in either file. Most paid hours here therefore come from families who hire you directly or from IHSS clients, so name in your profile the nearby cities you will drive to.

Types of caregiver jobs in Thousand Palms

The ACS 2020–2024 finds 1,162 Thousand Palms households, 42.2% of the total, that include a person 65 or over, and 409 householders aged 65 or older who live by themselves. Expect requests for a few hours of bathing, meals, medication reminders and housework for someone living alone, rides to appointments, and respite for an older spouse who has been the main caregiver. Among older residents, 45.6% report a disability, so transfers and mobility help come up often. In 43.5% of the population aged five and up, Spanish is spoken at home, so put any Spanish you speak near the top of your profile. Without experience, start with companionship and errands.

Pay

Caregiver pay in Thousand Palms: how much caregivers make

Public figures first, then what they mean for private work. Statistics describe employed aides across the Riverside–San Bernardino–Ontario, CA metro (Riverside and San Bernardino counties); private rates on CaregiverConnect are agreed between each caregiver and family and are not tracked by any agency.

Who is the employer. A family that hires you directly is your employer under California's Domestic Worker Bill of Rights. The state minimum wage ($16.90 an hour from 1 January 2026; some cities set more, for example $17.75 in the City of San Diego) is the legal floor, and a personal attendant earns overtime at 1.5× after 9 hours in a day or 45 in a week. The main exceptions are IHSS recipients and an employer's own parent, spouse or child. Source: California DIR, Domestic Worker Bill of Rights FAQ.

Riverside–San Bernardino–Ontario MSA (Riverside and San Bernardino counties) projection: 94,950 aide jobs in 2023 to 126,020 in 2033 (+32.7%), about 191,990 openings over the decade including replacements (California EDD, 2023–2033 projections published April 2026). Openings are not the same as net new jobs.

About 4.4% of the Thousand Palms labor force was unemployed, on average, between August 2025 and August 2026, according to EDD estimates. Riverside County came in at 5.5%, and the statewide mean was 5.3%. Month by month, Thousand Palms ranged from 3.7% to 5.0%, with an average labor force near 3,560. EDD derives estimates for census-designated places from county totals, so treat the number as approximate. For pay, the figure that matters most is the IHSS rate: a provider whose client lives in Thousand Palms earns Riverside County's $19.90 an hour, in force since May 1, 2026 (enrollment steps are in our guide to IHSS in Riverside County). Private and agency work starts at California's $16.90, since UC Berkeley's Labor Center has no wage ordinance on file for unincorporated Riverside County. Thousand Palms households that employ a personal attendant also fall under the overtime rules of California's Domestic Worker Bill of Rights, which start after nine hours in one day.

How to enroll as a provider in Riverside County, with the office phone lines and orientation steps, is in the IHSS Riverside County guide. IHSS wages for every county we cover, with effective dates, are in the IHSS pay by county guide.

How the public numbers relate to private rates, and what affects them, is covered in the caregiver pay guide.

Rules

Caregiver requirements in California, applied to Thousand Palms

Living in an unincorporated area changes none of the state rules. A family can hire you for personal care, cooking and errands without any license. An agency like the licensed home care organization on Reserve Drive cannot place you with a client until CDSS has registered you as a home care aide; the fee is $35. Work in Angel View's intermediate care homes, or any nursing facility, follows the employer's training and certification rules. To become an IHSS provider or join the Public Authority's caregiver registry, phone IHSS HOME on weekdays between 8 and 5 at (888) 960-4477 and the county starts the application. Paid caregivers in California must report suspected abuse of the elders and dependent adults they serve. The California requirements guide goes through each route step by step.

Questions

Caregiver jobs in Thousand Palms: frequently asked questions

Is Thousand Palms a city?

No. Thousand Palms is a census-designated place with no incorporated city government of its own. Riverside County provides local government, the Desert Recreation District runs the community center and park, and a county-appointed community council advises the Board of Supervisors.

Is unemployment high in Thousand Palms?

No. Across the 12 months to August 2026 EDD puts it near 4.4%, a full point below the county (5.5%) and under California (5.3%). Because EDD models CDP figures from county data, read it as an estimate.

Who hires caregivers inside Thousand Palms?

State files show a small set: one licensed home care organization, two adult residential homes and an Angel View intermediate care home. No elder care home, nursing facility or home health agency is licensed at a 92276 address, so most work is arranged directly with families or through IHSS.

What does IHSS pay for a Thousand Palms client?

CDSS lists $19.90 per hour for Riverside County, effective May 1, 2026. Call IHSS HOME at (888) 960-4477 to start provider enrollment.

Is there a Thousand Palms minimum wage?

No. The Labor Center tracks no ordinance for the community or for unincorporated Riverside County, so $16.90, the California rate, is the lowest a private employer may pay.

How do families in 92276 find me?

Families post on the Thousand Palms family page, and their 92276 requests show up here as well. You pay nothing to list yourself, and CaregiverConnect keeps no share of your wages.
