Finding in-home caregiver jobs in Corona

Corona is an incorporated city of 159,309 residents (Department of Finance, January 2026) in the northwest corner of Riverside County, covering ZIP codes 92879 through 92883, with Norco and Eastvale to the north and Lake Elsinore down I-15 to the south. Its defining feature for a caregiver is the commute of the families who hire: 32.5% of the city’s commuting workers spend 45 minutes or more getting to work and 19.0% an hour or more (ACS 2020–2024), and the 91 freeway into Orange County is the main route west. A household like that needs someone who can arrive before seven, stay until the evening hand-over, and cope if the drive home runs late.

Write your profile with that in mind. State your earliest start time and whether you can stay past six. Say which part of the area you live in; a caregiver based in Corona, Norco or Eastvale has a clear advantage over one driving in on the 91 or I-15 at rush hour. Families here often hire for a parent who lives with them, so mention experience with dementia, fall prevention and personal care in plain words. If you speak Spanish, say so: 31.5% of residents aged five and over speak it at home.

Pay

Caregiver pay in Corona: how much caregivers make

Public figures first, then what they mean for private work. Statistics describe employed aides across the Riverside–San Bernardino–Ontario, CA metro (Riverside and San Bernardino counties); private rates on CaregiverConnect are agreed between each caregiver and family and are not tracked by any agency.

MeasureHourlySource and coverage
Home health and personal care aides, Riverside–San Bernardino–Ontario, CA metro (Riverside and San Bernardino counties)$16.50 medianBLS OEWS, May 2025; 102,760 jobs; concentration 2.16× national
IHSS provider wage, Riverside County$19.90CDSS; effective May 1, 2026
California minimum wage$16.90effective January 1, 2026

Who is the employer. A family that hires you directly is your employer under California's Domestic Worker Bill of Rights. The state minimum wage ($16.90 an hour from 1 January 2026; some cities set more, for example $17.75 in the City of San Diego) is the legal floor, and a personal attendant earns overtime at 1.5× after 9 hours in a day or 45 in a week. The main exceptions are IHSS recipients and an employer's own parent, spouse or child. Source: California DIR, Domestic Worker Bill of Rights FAQ.

Riverside–San Bernardino–Ontario MSA (Riverside and San Bernardino counties) projection: 94,950 aide jobs in 2023 to 126,020 in 2033 (+32.7%), about 191,990 openings over the decade including replacements (California EDD, 2023–2033 projections published April 2026). Openings are not the same as net new jobs.

Corona has no city minimum wage (no Riverside County ordinance is listed by the UC Berkeley Labor Center), so the $16.90 state rate is the legal floor. Families here have more room to pay than the metro median suggests: median household income in Corona is $109,242, against $93,074 for the county, and the median home is valued at $700,700 (ACS 2020–2024). Use the $19.90 Riverside County IHSS wage as your reference point, and price overnight, dementia and driving work above it. Corona sits next to the Los Angeles–Long Beach–Anaheim metro, so caregivers who also work in Orange County will see a different set of BLS figures for that market.

How to enroll as a provider in Riverside County, with the office phone lines and orientation steps, is in the IHSS Riverside County guide. IHSS wages for every county we cover, with effective dates, are in the IHSS pay by county guide.

How the public numbers relate to private rates, and what affects them, is covered in the caregiver pay guide.

Rules

Caregiver requirements in California, applied to Corona

A Corona family that hires you directly for non-medical care does not need you to hold any license. A licensed home care agency must list you on the state Home Care Aide Registry before you work for it, and Corona Regional Medical Center or a skilled nursing facility will want a CDPH nursing assistant certificate. IHSS enrollment runs through Riverside County, not the city: call the IHSS HOME line, (888) 960-4477, after which you return the provider paperwork, get fingerprinted by Live Scan, watch the state’s orientation video and attend the county’s orientation in person; anyone joining the Public Authority registry is drug and alcohol tested too (according to an archived June 2025 copy of the DPSS page). As a paid caregiver you must report suspected elder abuse; the county’s 24-hour Adult Protective Services number is (800) 491-7123. More detail: California caregiver requirements.

The area

Corona in numbers

13.0% of Corona residents are 65 or older and 29.5% of households include someone that age, both a little below the county figures (ACS 2020–2024). 48.1% of residents are Hispanic or Latino. Median rent is $2,228, higher than the county’s $1,901, and the average commute for Corona workers is 34.3 minutes. The city’s own transit fills part of the gap for older clients: the Corona Cruiser’s two lines meet Metrolink at North Main and connect to RTA routes 1 and 3, and seniors pay $0.75 a ride.

Corona Regional Medical Center operates two licensed sites in the city on HCAI’s records: the 160-bed Main campus at 800 South Main Street, with a basic emergency department, and a 99-bed site at 730 Magnolia Avenue consolidated with it. Larger hospitals are in the City of Riverside to the east. See also Riverside, Lake Elsinore and the Riverside County hub.

Questions

Caregiver jobs in Corona: frequently asked questions

Is there a hospital in Corona?

Yes. Corona Regional Medical Center’s Main campus is at 800 South Main Street with 160 licensed beds and an emergency department, and a second 99-bed site operates on Magnolia Avenue.

What is the IHSS pay rate for Corona caregivers?

$19.90 an hour, the Riverside County rate since May 1, 2026. Corona is in Riverside County, so the Orange County rate does not apply even though the county line is close.

Can I train as a nurse assistant in Corona?

The Corona-Norco Adult School runs nurse assistant training at its Healthcare Career Training Center, and Riverside City College offers a CDPH-approved course a short drive east. Ask each about the next start date.

What hours do Corona families usually need?

Early weekday starts are common because about a third of Corona’s commuters spend 45 minutes or more on the road each way. Saying on your profile that you can begin before 7 am and stay into the evening helps.

Does Corona have its own minimum wage?

No. The state rate of $16.90 applies; no Riverside County city appears on the UC Berkeley Labor Center’s list of local minimum wage ordinances.

Where do Corona families post care needs?

On the Corona families page; caregivers whose radius covers the family’s ZIP code see each posting as soon as it is published.
