IHSS Trinity County: the Weaverville office, phone numbers and $18.25 pay
Trinity County delivers In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) itself, through the Health and Human Services agency in Weaverville. The same county team takes applications, sends a social worker to assess need, and also screens, enrolls and trains the caregivers who do the work, so for most questions there is one number to call: 530-623-8209. This guide covers who qualifies, the $18.25 provider wage, the enrollment steps, timesheets and pay, and how to report abuse, using what the county and the state published as of October 16, 2026.

Who qualifies for IHSS in Trinity County
The county's IHSS page says the program, paid for with a mix of federal, state and local funds, exists so that elderly, blind and disabled residents who need help can go on living at home safely. The county's age rule is over 65; blindness or a disability also qualifies, at any age, including in children. The county calls it an alternative to placement outside the home, such as nursing home or board and care living.
Trinity County is explicit about Medi-Cal: an applicant needs full-scope Medi-Cal, and some people will still owe a share of cost, depending on their income. The state adds its own baseline: California residency, a Medi-Cal eligibility determination, a home of your own choosing that is not a hospital or licensed care facility, and a Health Care Certification (form SOC 873) received by the county before any hours are authorized.
Hours can be authorized for chores (cleaning, meals, laundry, food shopping), for hands-on care including bathing, grooming, toileting and paramedical tasks, for accompanying the recipient to medical visits, and for protective supervision when a mental impairment makes that necessary.
IHSS Trinity County phone number and how to apply
According to the county, the easiest route is a phone call from the applicant to 530-623-8209; applying in person at the office is the other option. Referring someone else works the same way: give IHSS their details on that line and staff reach out to them to start an application.
| Trinity County IHSS | Details |
|---|---|
| IHSS office phone | 530-623-8209 |
| Health and Human Services office | 51 Industrial Parkway, Weaverville, CA 96093 |
| IHSS mailing address | Trinity County IHSS, P.O. Box 1470, Weaverville 96093 |
| IHSS fax | 530-623-6628 |
| HHS general line and TTY | 530-623-1265; TTY 530-623-1233 |
Next comes a home visit: a county social worker assesses what the person needs. CDSS explains that this assessment draws on information from the applicant and, where appropriate, family, friends or a doctor, and that the county writes to say whether IHSS is approved or denied. The state application is the SOC 295.
When hours are approved, the recipient hires the provider and is that person's employer, responsible under CDSS rules for hiring, training, supervising and, if necessary, letting them go. The county's IHSS page also points families who want paid care outside the program to the Human Response Network's elder support services.
Trinity County IHSS pay: $18.25 an hour
According to the Trinity line of CDSS's wage table by county (sheet "IP Effective 10-1-2026", opened October 16, 2026), Trinity County providers are paid $18.25 an hour, effective January 1, 2026. No other county shows exactly that figure: 36 counties pay more and 21 pay less.
| County or benchmark | Hourly | Effective |
|---|---|---|
| Trinity IHSS | $18.25 | Jan 1, 2026 |
| Shasta IHSS | $18.50 | Jan 1, 2026 |
| Humboldt IHSS | $18.40 | Jan 1, 2026 |
| Tehama IHSS | $18.40 | Jul 1, 2026 |
| Siskiyou IHSS | $16.90 | Sep 1, 2026 |
| California minimum wage (DIR) | $16.90 | Jan 1, 2026 |
Your rate depends on where the care recipient lives, not on your own address. A Weaverville caregiver with a client in Shasta County is paid Shasta's $18.50; a Redding caregiver working for a Trinity County recipient is paid $18.25. The state's collective bargaining workbook, whose status notes are dated July 1, 2023, records Trinity County's last negotiated raise on January 1, 2023 and an agreement running to June 30, 2025.
About 5.8% of Trinity County's labor force was unemployed, on average, between August 2025 and August 2026, according to EDD estimates, compared with California's 5.3%. In a county with that rate, IHSS hours paid at more than the state minimum are a steady source of local income. The Berkeley Labor Center's inventory, revised September 30, 2026, shows no local minimum wage for Trinity County or Weaverville, so private care work there starts from California's $16.90 minimum. Compare every county in IHSS pay by county.
No separate Public Authority: the county keeps the provider list
In the California Association of Public Authorities directory, the Trinity County entry links to the county's own IHSS page rather than to a separate organization, and the county's Adult Services page says its IHSS staff "screen, enroll, and train IHSS care providers and maintain a list of care providers who are approved to provide IHSS services." Adult Services describes making referrals to caregivers as part of its work.
In practice this means a recipient who has nobody in mind should ask the IHSS office about approved providers, and a caregiver who wants IHSS work should contact the same office. None of the Trinity County IHSS pages fetched for this guide mention a health plan for providers or a provider union; the office can tell you more.
Families hiring for the first time can work through our private caregiver hiring guide before the interviews.
How to become an IHSS provider in Trinity County
A would-be provider first contacts IHSS, by phone on 530-623-8209 or by writing to Adult Services. The county then sends login details for the IHSS Provider Portal, where you complete enrollment and orientation online. You need your own email address to register; the county publishes a short PDF on setting one up.
Trinity County lists four things every new provider must do:
- complete a provider application;
- complete a background check;
- sign a provider agreement;
- attend an orientation.
You also have to show an original, valid photo ID and your Social Security card. At state level, CDSS names the forms behind those steps: the SOC 426 Provider Enrollment Form, which goes back to the county rather than to CDSS, the SOC 846 Provider Enrollment Agreement that every provider signs, and fingerprinting with a Department of Justice criminal background check.
Already an IHSS provider and taking on another recipient? Ask for a supplemental Provider Enrollment Packet through the portal, or phone the office if you have lost your login. Moving house? File the change of address form immediately, because the county says late notice holds up your pay. Family caregivers enroll the same way; see IHSS pay for relatives and the statewide provider enrollment guide.
Live Scan for Trinity County providers
When we checked the Attorney General's Live Scan directory on October 16, 2026, it returned no fingerprinting sites in Trinity County. Ask the IHSS office which site to use before booking. The directory's Shasta County list includes the Redding Police Department at 777 Cypress Avenue (walk-ins Tuesday to Thursday, $23 rolling fee), the Shasta County Sheriff's Department at 300 Park Marina Circle in Redding ($25), ACCU-Print at 3404 Bechelli Lane in Redding ($17), and the Anderson Police Department at 2220 North Street (Tuesday and Thursday afternoons by appointment, $23). The DOJ says rolling fees are set by each site and that government and other fees can apply as well.
Timesheets, paychecks, direct deposit and sick leave
Paper timesheets are no longer available in Trinity County. Since Electronic Visit Verification arrived, every recipient and provider submits and approves time on the state's Electronic Services Portal (ESP) or over the phone with the Telephone Timesheet System (TTS).
- Online (ETS). Both recipient and provider need an email address, internet access and a phone, tablet or computer. Registered providers can see timesheet status, payment status and three months of payment history at any hour. Problems with the site go to the ETS Help Desk, 866-376-7066, option 4.
- By phone (TTS). Meant for people without internet access or with visual impairments. The recipient signs up by calling the IHSS office with their case number and choosing a Recipient Authentication Number. The TTS makes approval calls from 8 am to 7 pm on weekdays and tries three times; the county notes that a timesheet the recipient does not approve will still be paid. The TTS Assistance Line is 844-576-5445, with live staff from 8 am to 5 pm.
- Questions for the county. Call 530-623-8209 about authorized hours, having no hours left to pay, timesheets rejected for errors, or eligibility.
- Paycheck timing. The county no longer gives out timesheet or check status; use the portal. The state has ten business days from receipt of a timesheet to issue payment. If a check has not reached you within ten business days of being issued, call the IHSS office about a stop payment and reissue.
- Direct deposit. Enroll online through the portal, or mail a paper form, one per recipient, to the Provider Enrollment Processing Center, P.O. Box 1120, Roseville, CA 95678. If no timesheets are submitted for 60 days you are taken off direct deposit and must re-enroll. The help desk is 866-376-7066, option 2.
- Hours cap and sick leave. The state's ceiling is 66 hours in one workweek for a provider, however many recipients they work for. The 2026/2027 sick leave allowance is 40 hours, usable from the start of July 2026 once a newcomer has 100 hours of IHSS work behind them; claim it online or on the SOC 2302, and anything unused expires on June 30.
Adult Protective Services and Trinity County contacts
Trinity County APS responds to reports about elders and adults with physical, mental or developmental disabilities who may be physically or financially abused, neglected or exploited, or who cannot meet their own needs for food, clothing and shelter. A social worker follows up with a home visit or other contact. The local APS number is 530-623-8209 and the after-hours hotline is 530-623-1314. The county asks that emergency or immediate-response reports be made by phone, because online reports may not be processed until the next business day. Statewide, CDSS's 1-833-401-0832 line routes a caller to the right county's APS once a ZIP code is entered.
For suspected abuse in a nursing home, residential care facility for the elderly or assisted living, the county gives the State Crisis line, 800-231-4024, and the local Long-Term Care Ombudsman, 530-229-1435. The county's Public Guardian/Public Conservator handles conservatorship investigations and runs a Representative Payee program for people who need help managing Social Security or SSI payments. If you are an IHSS provider, state law (WIC §15630) requires you to report abuse you suspect.

IHSS pays for the hours in the county's authorization and no more. Overnight help or other extra time is a private job. A Trinity County family can post such a job on CaregiverConnect for free and choose among the caregivers who apply; the family does the interviewing and hiring, and caregivers pay nothing to apply. CaregiverConnect does not background-check caregivers, although caregivers can show proof of a check on their profiles, and paid plans are optional. Jobs on those pages appear as families post them. For a recipient who lives in another county, read IHSS in Shasta County, Humboldt County IHSS or the Siskiyou County guide.
