Finding in-home caregiver jobs in Dublin

The state counted 74,769 people in Dublin on January 1, 2026, and the ACS 2020–2024 estimates put the median age at 37.4 with only 9.6% of residents aged 65 or older. That shapes the work. A typical request comes from a household with children where a grandparent needs company, meals or personal care during the working day, rather than from an older person living alone; 4,749 Dublin households, about one in five, included someone 65 or over, and 1,050 older residents lived by themselves. Families post under ZIP code 94568, and the listings above refresh as they are published.

Lead your profile with languages. Of Dublin residents aged five and older, 49.1% spoke a language other than English at home, and 84.0% of those born abroad came from Asia; Spanish speakers were 5.2%. Of those, 24.4% spoke English less than very well, so a caregiver who can talk with a grandparent comfortably has an advantage. Say also whether you drive and how far: workers in Dublin averaged 35.9 minutes to their jobs, and 34.7% worked from home, which means a parent or adult child will often be in the house while you work.

Expect weekday daytime cover for a grandparent, help with bathing and dressing, cooking to a family diet, rides to medical visits, and short-term help after a hospital stay at Stanford Health Care Tri-Valley or elsewhere. Without paid experience, companion care and errands for a fairly independent older adult are the usual way in; a caregiver course with CPR, such as the distance-learning program run by New Haven Adult School, adds credibility for personal care jobs.

Pay

Caregiver pay in Dublin: how much caregivers make

Public figures first, then what they mean for private work. Statistics describe employed aides across the San Francisco–Oakland–Fremont, CA metro (Alameda, Contra Costa, San Francisco, San Mateo and Marin counties); private rates on CaregiverConnect are agreed between each caregiver and family and are not tracked by any agency.

Who is the employer. A family that hires you directly is your employer under California's Domestic Worker Bill of Rights. The state minimum wage ($16.90 an hour from 1 January 2026; some cities set more, for example $17.75 in the City of San Diego) is the legal floor, and a personal attendant earns overtime at 1.5× after 9 hours in a day or 45 in a week. The main exceptions are IHSS recipients and an employer's own parent, spouse or child. Source: California DIR, Domestic Worker Bill of Rights FAQ.

No Dublin ordinance is listed in the UC Berkeley Labor Center inventory of city wage laws, which leaves $16.90, California's rate, as the legal minimum for work in Dublin. The more useful benchmark is IHSS: Alameda County has paid providers $22.10 an hour since July 1, 2026, $4.82 more than the $17.28 that BLS found was the middle wage for aides across the metro in May 2025. Families who have priced IHSS or an agency will expect a private quote somewhere above the IHSS figure for experienced care. Keep the county line in mind: a client in San Ramon is paid at the Contra Costa IHSS rate of $20.03, because the wage follows where the client lives. For long shifts, California's domestic worker overtime rule (after nine hours a day or 45 a week) applies to personal attendants.

How to enroll as a provider in Alameda County, with the office phone lines and orientation steps, is in the IHSS Alameda County guide. IHSS wages for every county we cover, with effective dates, are in the IHSS pay by county guide.

How the public numbers relate to private rates, and what affects them, is covered in the caregiver pay guide.

Rules

Caregiver requirements in California, applied to Dublin

State rules apply in Dublin without local additions. Families can hire you directly for non-medical help with no license involved, and the Home Care Aide Registry is required only when a licensed home care agency employs you. To work as an IHSS provider for a Dublin recipient, sign up through the county Public Authority for IHSS (main line (510) 577-3552, offices on Foothill Boulevard in Oakland) and clear the Department of Justice background check; its registry, on (510) 577-5694, then matches cleared providers with recipients and needs no prior experience. Nurse assistant work in a facility requires CDPH certification. Caregivers are mandated reporters, and Alameda County Adult Protective Services takes reports on (510) 577-3500. Details: California requirements guide and Alameda County IHSS guide.

Dublin in numbers

ACS 2020–2024: 6,829 Dublin residents aged 65 and over and 528 aged 85 and over. Among people 65 and up, 25.2% reported a disability. Median household income was $214,385, median gross rent $3,191, and just 2.4% of households had no vehicle, so most clients have a car at home and families expect a caregiver who can drive it or bring their own. Households average 2.8 people and 45.4% include someone under 18, so you will often work around school runs and other relatives.

For hospital discharges, the Tri-Valley acute hospital in our sources is Stanford Health Care Tri-Valley, 5555 West Las Positas Boulevard in Pleasanton, licensed for 167 beds (HCAI). Nearby pages: Pleasanton, Livermore, San Ramon and the Alameda County overview.

Questions

Caregiver jobs in Dublin: frequently asked questions

Is there a Dublin city minimum wage?

No. Dublin is not among the cities with their own ordinance, so caregivers working there are owed at least the California rate of $16.90 an hour.

How much does IHSS pay for a Dublin recipient?

$22.10 an hour since July 1, 2026, the Alameda County rate. It is the same anywhere in Alameda County; a client living in Contra Costa is paid at that county's rate.

Do I need experience to join the Alameda County IHSS registry?

No prior experience is required. You do need to have passed the Department of Justice background check; providers contact the registry on (510) 577-5694.

What makes a Dublin caregiver profile stand out?

An Asian language spoken well, since most residents born abroad came from Asia; a clear statement of how far you drive; and experience in multigenerational homes where you share the house with working parents and children.

Does Wheels Dial-A-Ride charge me when I travel with a client?

Yes, free of charge, if the rider's ADA eligibility says a personal care attendant is needed. Other companions pay the $4 fare. Trips cover Dublin, Pleasanton and Livermore.

Where can a Dublin client spend part of the day while I work?
