Finding caregiver jobs in Vista
Vista is an inland city east of Oceanside and Carlsbad on the Highway 78 corridor; it is not Chula Vista in the South Bay and not Sierra Vista, Arizona, both of which crowd the search results for "caregiver jobs vista". Its three ZIP codes are 92081, 92083 and 92084. Postings within 50 miles are listed below as families publish them, most of them from Vista, Oceanside, San Marcos, Carlsbad and Escondido, and each card shows the distance from Vista so you can see at a glance whether a job is on the SPRINTER line or needs a car.
Half of Vista's residents are Hispanic or Latino, a third speak Spanish at home and one in eight speaks Spanish and English less than very well. A caregiver who can take instructions from an English-speaking daughter and spend the day in Spanish with her mother can apply for postings that an English-only caregiver cannot, so put your languages in the first line of your profile. Set a radius that covers Oceanside and San Marcos and turn on alerts; the job-search guide explains how applications work.

Caregiver pay in Vista
Public figures first, then what they mean for private work. Statistics describe employed aides across the San Diego–Chula Vista–Carlsbad, CA metro (San Diego County); private rates on CaregiverConnect are agreed between each caregiver and family and are not tracked by any agency.
| Measure | Hourly | Source and coverage |
|---|---|---|
| Home health and personal care aides, San Diego–Chula Vista–Carlsbad, CA metro (San Diego County) | $16.97 median ($17.71 mean) | BLS OEWS, May 2025; 57,080 jobs; concentration 1.34× national |
| IHSS provider wage, San Diego County | $20.40 | CDSS; effective March 1, 2026 |
| California minimum wage | $16.90 | effective January 1, 2026 |
| Nursing assistants, San Diego–Chula Vista–Carlsbad, CA metro (San Diego County) | $23.11 median | BLS OEWS, May 2025 (certified roles, for comparison) |
Who is the employer. A family that hires you directly is your employer under California's Domestic Worker Bill of Rights. The state minimum wage ($16.90 an hour from 1 January 2026; some cities set more, for example $17.75 in the City of San Diego) is the legal floor, and a personal attendant earns overtime at 1.5× after 9 hours in a day or 45 in a week. The main exceptions are IHSS recipients and an employer's own parent, spouse or child. Source: California DIR, Domestic Worker Bill of Rights FAQ.
San Diego County projection: 52,820 aide jobs in 2023 to 69,580 in 2033 (+31.7%), about 105,890 openings over the decade including replacements (California EDD, 2023–2033 projections). Openings are not the same as net new jobs.
All figures are for the metro and county; Vista has no wage data of its own and no local minimum-wage ordinance, so the $16.90 state rate applies. Nine licensed home-care agencies are based in the city and 35 licensed residential care facilities, 22 of them six-bed homes, which means plenty of facility shifts compete with private work for experienced caregivers. Bilingual caregivers can reasonably ask above the $16.97 employed median; IHSS at $20.40 is a common part of a Vista caregiver's week because many eligible recipients here already have a family provider and need extra hours covered.
IHSS wages for every county we cover, with effective dates, are in the IHSS pay by county guide.
How the public numbers relate to private rates, and what affects them, is covered in the caregiver pay guide.
Caregiver requirements in California, applied to Vista
Vista follows the state framework. Families hiring directly for non-medical help need no licensed caregiver; registration as a Home Care Aide ($35, Live Scan) is optional for you and compulsory for aides of the city's nine licensed agencies, who also need a cleared background check. IHSS work starts with enrolment at the county Public Authority, (866) 351-7722: orientation and a Department of Justice fingerprint check come before the first $20.40 hour, and many Vista providers are relatives of the person they care for. CNA and HHA certificates are issued by CDPH after an approved course; Vista Adult School runs medical pathways but not CNA, so the nearest course is MiraCosta's in Oceanside. If you are paid to care for an older adult you are a mandated reporter under WIC 15630; the county's Aging & Independence Services line is (800) 339-4661. The requirements guide has the full picture.

Vista in numbers
Vista had 101,365 residents on 1 January 2026 (DOF E-1). ACS 2020–2024 puts 13.0% at 65 or over, about 12,900 people and the lowest share of the six coastal North County cities on this site; 49.4% are Hispanic or Latino, 34.1% speak Spanish at home, 40.0% speak a language other than English, and median household income is $94,975. The median owner-occupied home is worth $762,400 and median gross rent is $2,249, the lowest rent of the six, which is one reason caregivers who serve Carlsbad and Encinitas live here.
Tri-City Medical Center at 4002 Vista Way, Oceanside, operated by Sharp HealthCare since July 2026, is the hospital Vista families use, and post-discharge postings from both cities often cross the city line.
